Fcukin smashed it!!!
Last year on the stumpy was 4hrs 32mins, this year on the fatty 3hrs 24mins, absolutely battered it even in strong headwinds
No pictures of lovely scenery as i was in full blown jibbering like an idiot pedal mode haha
Arrived there at 8am to find i was the only fatbike entered, a few remarks and raised eyebrows were thrown at me but it's like water off a ducks back nowadays, set off at 9am straight into the evil evil cobbled climb that splits the pack up, at the 13 mile point my legs were aching, I don't get aching legs ever! bastard wind!! got to the resi's and decided to pull a sly one up the 4 mile climb to the top by slip streaming a guy and letting him take the brunt of the wind, ha, sucker
Feeling nice and refreshed at the top of the resi's i put my foot down on the road down to the next gate/bridleway, 50.51mph, fastest I've ever rode lol, this left me buzzing for a nice final 10 miles to the finish.
At around the 25 mile mark i had a bit of a mechanical, my chain had dried up of oil and because the front two rings were so worn everytime i dropped on the granny ring to climb i started suffering hideous chain suck I had envisaged this happening so i'd popped a tub of oil in my backpack just incase, I rounded a bend and saw this guy stopped and looking like he was about to keel over so i had him hold my bike while i oiled the chain, and talking to him found out he'd ran out of water and food so i gave him my spare bottle of isotonic and off i went.
4 miles to go and i had a belly full of skittles and was buzzing like fk!
Best ride ever!!!
no scenery pics, but here's today's bragging rights off the Garmin haha....
Ohhh, found a couple of pics...
The End...
Thanks for looking
