Visiting some body in Barnsley on Wednesday and wondered of there are any good spots to ride from the wood head pass between peristome and heading towards longendale. So basically on my way back on the woodhead before the m67 back up m66.
Around 3 hours max so don't want to head further South for hope and the peaks proper. Could do grenoside but don't want to go there to have no idea which sections to ride and how to find them.

+1 for cutgate, it's running mint at the moment and if you're doing it midweek it should be very quiet, it's an out and back route too so 20 miles of singletrack without worrying about getting lost

If you do decide on this ...I almost envy you for doing it for the very first time ..it's epic ! We keep returning to it every 2-3 years as a stayover..and having done the ride 3 times now have been lucky enough to have dry & dusty conditions every time You will love it !

The mbr route shows two trails from lang sett to join the single track upto cut gate. Ones directly across from the car park to left of the road into langsett the over goes around the reservoir carpark. Just wondered which is the best one to go up and the best one on the way back down.

If coming out of langsett keep to the left you will eventually join the trail where you turn left and climb up befor you drop down to derwent waters when you come back from ladybower / derwent keep to the left and it's a wicked bit of trail mate

Unfortunately didn't get chance to go, the meeting was put back so I only would have left Barnsley around 3PM also I thought they would be slightly out of town and have private parking, they emailed details the afternoon before to say they are in the town centre just off Regents St and would most likely have to park on a pay and display, didn't want to risk leaving the Enduro in the back of the car for 3 or 4 hours.
No doubt I will get another chance in the near future. its definately up there on the list of places to go and navigation is easy so doesn't phase me of going on my own when passing.
