Going to 27.5 that' is as opposed to 26 for the next full sus bike.
26" cheaper but dose the 27.5 really make that much difference I have to ride 16" frame just worried it will look more wheel than bike.
Also second hand market has a lot more on order on the 26" side
Your thoughts please guys

Just do it Chris. I wouldn't lie to you I'll never go back, that's for sure. There is a reason why no one wants 26" anymore.

26 " wheeled bikes will still be around for a long time ..but the bike companies have decided that the 27.5 wheel size is the way forward ! R&D will be aimed more at this sized bike so if you want to stay with the game ..that's what you should aim for . From what I have ridden the 27.5 wheel size just " works " .. I still ride a 26 " wheeled bike but will eventually change . Who wouldn't want an extra inch and a half ....?

Hodgy is sounding like a Luddite that doesn't want to be a Luddite I was a massive sceptic too, but the 27.5 deffo feels better than the 26...that's the only way I can put it whilst acknowledging what Neil says about the marketing boys from the big companies. I've ridden a 29er (briefly) and whilst fast I can see that is a size too far as well. For me 27.5 is the ideal compromise...until the 28 comes out.

I knew it was worth it, my riding buddies have made the jump ( one to a 29'r ) and they were always taking off especially uphill, I've now joined the 27.5 gang and i'm taking CHUNKS out of my climbing times, I never thought i'd say that... ever.... as i'm getting on a bit y'know and they're at least 10 yrs younger than me, maybe they won't embarrass me anymore lol, (were quite a competitive bunch haha) it's the way forward mate

Ironic, those with 26" bikes presume 26" will be around for ever!... Maybe they will, I saw an Austin Ambassador the other day... It was shit!

Ahem ...maybe slightly misunderstood here ..I'm a fan of the 27.5 " wheel size ..and like I said in my post ..it just works ! The point I was trying to make in terms of the 26 " wheel size being around for a long time is based on the fact that there are still a hell of a lot out there ..but maybe didn't explain that too well ...my next bike will be 650b

Brunel said his broad gauge would see off the technically inferior crappy old standard gauge (4ft 8inch) railway track which was same as roman chariots(!)
He was wrong.
Glad the Romans didn't ride 29 ers though.

question? to anyone who's bought a new 27.5 bike is it the size of the wheel that makes it roll better or the fact that its a new bike that makes it roll better?

I don't feel a lot of difference in the 27.5. However the 29es noticeably roll better.

I've got 26 and a 27.5 and can't tell much of a difference either! I like 29er's for how fast they roll but they get too tangled up in themselves on twisty tracks for my liking!
I'd like a 29er singlespeed though and plan on building one this year!

I've got a new 27.5 and yes there is the buzz thing of a new bike but i tried a mates one before i got mine and i had the same feeling of the bigger wheels that make it go better/faster, it defo makes a difference to me

I've got a 27.5 and a 26 and they roll the same to me, although the 26 has faster tyres on.

It wasn't a revelation. I just made the change before my 26" bike became worthless. I'm actually thinking of swapping my 26" 456 for a 29 er though. Want something xc ish for rides in the Shropshire Hills and canal training.

It's really difficult to tell though, unless you have identical bikes, set up the same with the same tyres and one of em a 26, one a 27.5 - how can you make a genuine comparison? and who would be daft enough to want to anyway?
For me, for what it's worth the 27.5 bikes I've got both roll faster and climb better and batter over features better than my 26er.
Trouble is, my 26er was a £600 entry level HT!. It's not exactly scientific, but all I know is I like how 27.5 feels and I'll be sticking with it.

The newest 650b's are slacker, longer, and lower. These all contribute to better climbing and better rolling.
