There are so many different ways to tackle Helvellyn ... High Street having done it three times in low cloud cover is best kept for when you know there are going to be blue skies , Bowderdale ..hopefully putting that one to bed shortly with you ..Borrowdale ..need to get Ant who is a forum user to show us his version of that ( lots of cheekies) ..the only other time I have ridden this was brilliant but wet & snowing and at times the trails were like fast flowing streams ...I haven't as yet done any welsh riding ...one day though ...so many trails ..so little time !

Yorkshire Dales... not as dramatic or beautiful as the Lakes for sure, but still wonderful and wild and open, with a big plus of fewer walkers and choked roads. I'm looking at the area squared off between Bainbridge, Gunnerside (Crackpot), Reeth (Fremington), Castle Bolton. Certainly has a wide network of BW and old mine tracks. I haven't looked for any actual MTB routes yet, and I don't know if those BW's have any excitement amongst them, but I know many here will do. Is this not Ardrock country?
Goathland was very fine, and I'll happily revist it, for many here tho' N Yorks Moors may be less accesible, so the above is just another suggestion for comments...

Has anybody ridden at Langholm recently? It featured in this months Mbr magazine. I know they can go a bit over board with their gushing reviews of places but it did look like a good varied and mostly natural place with a fair amount to explore.

I haven't seen this months magazine Kirky ...would that be Langholm in Dumfrieshire ? If so the answer to that is no ..never ridden there . The closest would be the Wanlockhead Goldrush Trail ..which we started in the grounds of Drumlanrig. That was a big day out and we were totally fooked at the end ..big hill country !

That's the one, the festival looks good but I fancy riding there when it's not on, apparently all of the trails featured are openly accessible.
Being on the way to Hawick may be handy over the coming months as I can wangle a trip out for work around those parts.

Danny McK is billed for an appearance at the festival. It's only an hour or so up the road so might have a look at it, but sure the trails got to be worth an exploratory adventure some time soon. Shout out when you're heading up.
