Just a quick report to say what a fantastic day it was yet again. The sun was the shining, the lungs were burning and the kids were fantastic. For those that don't know, the Batch Burner is an event based in the Shropshire Hills - 32 Miles long and 4700ft of up and the longest natural single track descent in England. It's all in aid of the local primary school who are at risk of closure. Everyone from the school gets involved, the kids have a ukulele band at the feed station and they give out the BB mugs at the end and even wash your bike. The BBQ is in full flow when you get back and the local 'seniors' make some great cake. Anyway, well recommended event that always sells out in a stunning setting. For me, it was one of the hardest rides i've ever done. Most of you know I came a cropper at Degla 6 weeks ago and fractured my elbows. This was my first ride back in anger, and to top it all off I spent all of last week with the Flu. Not a cold but proper flu. I woke up in the night and I had sweated that much I had to change the bed and genuinely thought i'd p****d myself! Anyway, proper gnar picture:
And a video with a view from my pal's bike:

Great work! Only found out about this ride a few weeks ago. Looks cracking. Will have to see how my recovery from shoulder surgery goes but it's probably going to be 2017 until I get to give this a go

Excellent effort Barrfy ..getting off your sick bed to do that ! I have only ever had proper flu once ..so I know what you have been through ..it ain't pleasant ! How long is the downhill you mentioned ? Oh ..and while the video was good ..your mates taste in music is utter shite ..I swear I would have topped myself if it had gone on much longer ...

He's Lithuanian, it may be well received there haha!
KOM on Minton Batch is 4:06, I'd say I was an intermediate rider and my best time is around 6:30 over the roughly 1.5 mile descent. That's about 14mph and it ain't straight!

..aye well he is slightly forgiven then ! No accounting for taste though ... That 1.5 mile descent falls a long way short of being the longest natural descent in England though ( if that's the one you are referring to ? ) Bowderdale in Cumbria comes in at 7 km ...

I took the 1.5 mile figure off a strava segment, I know it's generally marketed by the press as being so, possible that my figure is off or their information is off. Either way it's huge fun!
