Having been up early this morning and got the work that I needed to do out of the way ...by midday , I noticed that Deadwater Fell 18 miles distant was winking at me through my kitchen window ..so I had to go and check it out . It was a perfect day for a ride warm but overcast and as visibility was good I decided to climb to the summit where the views into Scotland are just brilliant ..however it's fair to say that 9 times out of 10 most folk just dive off onto " Into The Valley " ..the highest point of the man made trails on this hill . I had a blast the trails were running dry & fast .. Some pics The start of the " new " 3Dog Climb Three quarters of the way to the summit ...the height gain is not really apparent until you realise that the trees below are fully matured The summit has all sorts of military " tracking " equipment As well as what some folk would call " art " ..I'm not one of them ( I think it's crap and a complete waste of money..) I have tried " sheltering" there when it has been tipping down and blowing a hoolie ..and it offers no shelter at all ! A proper hut would have come at a fraction of the cost and been a whole lot more useful. [/URL
Start of the downhill section..which then links in to the trail built section further down the hill . Kielder Water down below . It looks smooth to begin with ..but very quickly de-grades! Lots of good work has been done by volunteers of both KTR and groups organised by the F.C ..well done !

That looks like a great ride. Very jealous of the scenery and trails you have there!

Yes ..I'm lucky to live where I do ...but I also appreciate the fact too. Like I have said before ..if you ever make it up this way ..us natives are more than happy to show you not only the best bits of man-made trail ..but also the off -piste trails too ..which 99.9% of riders visiting the area have not a clue about !

You're 100% spot on about that 'shelter' Neil...... it offers absolutely no shelter what so ever lol

It's almost a venturi tube and as a shelter it is extremely cack. Noticed on the KTR facebook page that All along the Watchtower/Superbowl have been finished - how're they now Neil? Looked way better in the vid (as in AATW now leads into superbowl).

Not quite finished Andy ..rides a lot better for sure ..if I'm being slightly critical it's widened the trail a little ..but that will pull back in ..in time . The techy stone section still needs looking at ..and you are right the trail does lead in to Super Bowl now ..so you kinda have to ride it ..whereas before it was optional and I'm not too sure that folks knew it was there tbf ! Also an uphill corner is being taken off ( flagged at the mo ) ..which interrupted the flow ...to make the gradient a little easier and carry more speed . I really must get to the next trail build ... You are missed too ..but young family does take preference !
