So I went out on a ride with a mate who works in a local bike shop, went on a 3ish hr (only 16 miles) ride around Dartmoor, which turned out to me a LOT more climbing than I was expecting, 10 miles in and my legs were shot on the climbs, just didn't have the strength left, and annoyingly him and the other guy we were out with were just monstering up these climbs without breaking a sweat. Anyway, they were really cool with the whole thing and pretty understanding! Didn't realise how unfit I was until I rode with them, but they suggested getting a road bike. Thankfully, I had one from back in 2009 and it had been ridden about 6 times since then and has been sat in my Mum's garage all this time, so I popped down the LBS, picked up some new tyres and tubes for it (old ones has rotten away) and gave it a little clean up and hey presto, one clean(ish) Specialized Allez: So am I massive gay now?

Stabilisers are in the post atm. I've also picked it up for much the same reason as Nelly, except my drives are only about 30-40 minutes, I really cba with that after work if I finish at 6 or so, so hopefully will be able to go out and head off and waste an hour or 2.

definitely not, I have been out twice in 2 weeks on the roadie as well as MTB and can really feel the difference. As stated in another thread I use the roadie for pure fitness and the MTB for having a laugh. Fortunately I live near some lovely quiet country roads so cars aren't too much of an issue. Have to say commuting into Wolverhampton when my car was in the garage was not fun or for the faint hearted. I will be bringing my roadie down in the summer as I fancy the ride up to Hay Tor.
