Why oh why do you want to put me off mtbing when every time I log on I am greeted with some disillusioned hiker who instead of a rucksack insists on carrying a bike on his back How's about a nice X country riding picture with a person actually on a bike and not on a 1 in 10 up or down or carefully posed on a rocky descent with no mud or crap and perfect makeup ( like the mag pictures ) to make me and other mere mortals feel better

The previous post was put up by our resident ( really really ) grumpy old Scotsman .. He doesn't really mean it ..just likes a good old moan !
He is entitled to do so though being one of our elder statesmen..I would have thought being a fellow countryman you would have seen through all the bluff and bluster ...
Anyway just so you know he is the type of bloke who would have 30 tonnes of stone delivered on your driveway should you dare to cross him ...I have just averted that very fate myself for daring to question his choice of start to our last Cheviot ride ....
He's actually one of the nicest blokes you could wish to meet .
( he recently fused two discs in his back falling from a horse ..the thought of carrying his bike and the pain that would cause sends shivers down his spine..no pun intended)
