Well I genuinely hope it was nowt to do with me ..but my response to his post on the forum ride for the 4th July was probably the last response to anything he posted . I didn't think that my reply was offensive ..just wanted to know what he was thinking . Gaz took it the way it was meant ..in a humorous context ..but at the same time I did think that Jay had hugely underestimated the scale of the " just 25 miles " he was going to undertake ...as good a rider & how fit he is ! I do think something else has brought him to that decision .....can't just be me !

Gaz ..don't have a postcode ..but it's town centre parking . As you come in to town from the M6 just keep going straight ahead ..it changes in to a one way system and there is a car park directly behind the public loos . I think it's about four quid for an all day ticket . Exit the car park on your bikes turning immediately right up the hill and that gets you on your way ...

Last summer I Was riding a section of hamsterly, now I'm not a quick rider but I was going fairly fast by my standards and a guy came right up my arse and was shouting something, couldn't really make out what so just kept on till the end of the section where the guy proceeded to dive off his bike and get all in my face screaming all sorts of obscenities some of the few words I made out amongst the barrage of abuse were 'f#cking strava times'. This guy was really really angry and I had to give him a light slap to calm him down . Never used it myself but from that incident I can see that some people take it very seriously!

I don't use strava to chase KOMs, I do it to share rides with mates who aren't on garmin connect/find paths I didn't know existed. I'm on both but I keep all my rides on garmin private.

i don't mind Strava or Garmin, Strava can be a really obnoxious app, but the desktop version is very good! particularly the fly-by thing.. use it how you please!! but if you ride behind me yelling Strava, expect to loose a few teeth!!

I also don't chase many KOM's up here as Jared Graves and Joe Barnes have the good ones

I must be a one off, I like it. I ride to keep fit and if I'm not pushing myself for speed or distance I find that I don't really push myself. I like creating segments of little bits of singletrack I find too and seeing if other people ride them too.

Think I need a dedicated GPS. Tend to use Strava on my phone. Had a cracking ride last night. Usually just have it to record time distance amd elevation. Monstered 'Snake Hill' back up from Birches Valley to Marquis Drive at the end of the ride and was looking forward to seeing how I'd improved. Only thing is Strava only ran for the first 100m of the ride and autopaused for the rest of the 12 miles.

I've had that problem mate after an update download - you have top make sure autopause is turned off on the settings tab - mines been fine since.

Never used it and don't intend to , if I want to track miles there's loads of other phone apps out there without the need for a garmin , some wit5h full uk os maps to stop you getting lost too (don't try MM as you'll end up in the asylum), the one I use logs distance , you can save the route for later, gives you an altitude grap , speed graph , top speed and various other stats but doesn't screw up your riding enjoyment .
