well had my first ride out in over 2 weeks , been resting my ankle after my last off ... which was about 5/6 weeks ago. been bloody tender and sore , so didn't want to do more damage to it.. any way today had an early finish from work , so went out for a local loop 35 miles lol later and a nice steady ride stopped of at hicks lodge for a latte , oh and a slice of flapjack connect.garmin.com/modern/activity/808750731
got to say im feeling knackered 2 weeks off cant believe how fast ya fitness drops
anyway decided that's it done with strava , for the first time in a long time I didn't rush like a mad man and just road the trails having fun ... not thinking oh got to go faster down here to beat my last time .. so there will be no more strava uploads .my account has been deleted
there is life with out it.. fair play to the lads that want to use it and want to keep track of there rides with the phones ..ect each to there own, I've just got sick of it, I want to enjoy my riding and not every time I go out ... I've got to beat this time that time
ride safe guys
Gaz

agree with that gaz.im not interested in racing against myself or anyone else. what I do enjoy tho is knowing iv 'cleaned' a section for the first time,up or down.even if its just a few metres of technical trail

Fair enough dude, strava can ruin some rides. Seen a fair few guys get to the end of trails and instead of laughing about it they're stopping strava :/ where's the fun?
I still use it though, mostly to check top speed (I'm a big kid really) and to see if I've ridden a section faster, not to try and ride it faster, but to see how I'm improving.

I use strava but only to record my distance and see how my fitness is improving as I ride alone ( no mates ) so hwve nothing to compare myself to. I have 3 or 4 loops I use at my trail centre but couldnt even tell you what the strava segments are. I will go a ride and just enjoy it then look at my results at the end. I may of had a blast at one or two down hills or tried to complete a long fire road climb in a different gear but only ever compare myself to myself. My level is about 400 or 500 out of 1000 to 1500 people so i will never be a kom but I do like to know I can complete my 17km loop 10 mins faster than I could in march.
When I got home today I noticed I was fasted out of 3 people in one or two sections today....woohoo.....sorry, as I said, I dont compare myself to others.

Im thinking the same thing as you pal , was up mabie forest the other day and what i seen was just a fecking joke pal ..a fucking E-Bike zoomed straight past me ive seen 2 now just on mabie and about 7 in total on others. he zoomed past shouting KOM KOM !! and i said FUCK YOUR MOTHER you cheating asshole and he just giggled like a little girl ! .it really makes me pig sick and my god he was fast climbing with no effort what so ever .think he was polish with that accent .
but i use strava just for personal gain and motivation needs anyway sometimes i just dont bother with it .

Gaz oh I`m glad to see that you`ve seen the light mate.you`ve summed it all up there when you said instead of trying to beat your own or other peoples times you just just enjoyed being out on the bike.fcuk the koms and the pb`s,just have fun when you`re out,at least you might turn back into the original `plodder` that we all know and love

Killswitch ..why get angry about ebikes...they are here to stay and a perfect excuse for any Strava times that anyone doesn't like to point the finger and say " must have been done on an ebike !" By the way as annoying as it is ..you do still have to pedal them for them to work ..you can get payback the day you see someone pushing because the battery had died ...

Really ain't bothered if I am faster or slower than some one else I ride for me This ^ This is exactly how I use it - also for trying to keep track of any new cheekies we find if I can't find em again. Fair play Gaz but deleting the account was a bit harsh - you can have strava and not worry about times you know. As a service tool or just a tool to keep track of miles ridden it's great. You don't have to be a strava warrior to be on strava. I leave that to the lycra boys

Yes Gaz sorry just read the bit about your Garmin - I'd forgotten that, as I haven't got one though I need strava!
It's a bold move Gaz but you are right to do it, if the only reason you were going out was to beat a time then to me, that's the wrong reason!
Perhaps you'll get back to just going out, enjoying the ride, having a larf and taking the piss - it's what it's all about to me.

nooooo!...........whats up with you lads? talk of handing the forum over? mojos going awol? some of you had better take up knitting or summat! this is the time when your mojo should be at its peak, dusty trails, long warm days , summer evening rides! seriously tho, sometimes you can be drawn in to over doing it, training for events, trying to beat this and that. try spreading your rides out more so your looking forward to your next one more. if it means missing a week, so be it. got to go iv got a wedding to go to......but im looking forward to my rides next week....wherever they might be. KEEP THE PEDALS TURNING LADS, BUT MOST OF ALL........ENJOY!

I would give up Strava if I could afford a good level of garmin as I have a lot to trouble remembering routes so at least the garmin would let me know we're to go ( or I think that is how it works )
