So after the first Fathers Day without a bike related gift it got me thinking about do i need anything (except for a new bike of course). Thinking of Christmas! Well the only thing I would really consider would be adding a Garmin to my equipment.
So who has what and what do you recommend? Do you need the top of the range or would the 810 do the job?

I have the Fenix 3 it is a watch and it records rides and runs/hikes/ski ing etc if you are looking for navigation on the device then it doesnt do that. However it is a great bit of tech and I love it.
From what I hear the 810 is more stable than the 1000 but I don't know if that is still the case.

810 for me, more user friendly, better battery, and accepts more variety of maps via card slot. It's also cheaper and isn't full of applications seldom used.

I phone ...free View Ranger App ..download your O.S maps on to it ..records routes , times etc and shows your exact GPS location on the map ...you can zoom in and out of the map ..does everything I need . Spend your £ 330 quid on some other kit ..I really don't know why people go to the expense of having a seperate bit of kit ..this works as well if not better !

To be fair yes they do work but I found they would eat your battery when using strava plus heart rate monitor ., that's why I went for the garmin Neil .., I keep my phone nice and wrapped up out the way

Not definitely going to get one as I don't often get the chance to go places i don't know but just wondering.

You are right Gaz ..it does eat your battery ..using everything together and to be fair I only reference mine when I think I might be lost ! Jimbo himself told me about a piggy-back battery which works really well .. The product name is Anker ..without the W! You can get two full charges out of it .

I bought one too on Jim's recommendation..it's a crackin little bit of kit ! We bought 14 the last Christmas and had the whole family done in one go!! Everyone loves them, including the kids, who now can't blame running out of battery for not replying to their Mum!
