Not to be outdone by Mz's cramp I've just gone and bust my ankle. I'm now the proud user of a pair of alloy crutches and a big velcro boot jobbie
Not a spectacular bike crash. I did it XC running. Went over on a ledge covered by overhanging grass.
Unfortunately I can't make Long Mynd now. No doubt my post count will rise over the next few weeks.
Bollocks!

Sorry to hear that Andy. How long do they think it will take to heal?

Thanks chaps. I'll know a bit more about what needs doing and healing times when I've been back to fracture clinic Monday morning.
It doesn't hurt too much so I'm optimistic that it won't need an op and it will heal in a few weeks. Obviously I won't be going mad on it straight away but I did this 40 years ago and found that I could ride the road bike with my leg in plaster pretty soon. I've just looked under the boot thing and the sole has a similar tread to my 5-10 freerides. Now how lucky is that!

Yes, all of the above. With luck Andy and knowing what a fit bugger you are it'll be a fast recovery, in the meantime while you are waiting, there is a cheer up pint waiting for you in Roojelly spoons. You have to make your own way to Rudge though

Went to the frac clinic this morning and the news is better than I expected.
I've now seen the X-ray myself. The crack which is clean through by about 2mm goes right through my ankle bone on the outside about 1/3 the way from the bottom. I think the ligaments just ripped it art as I went over. Fortunately I can still take a steady vertical load on my leg and it doesn't hurt too much although it's swollen and red/black.
It will heal itself without an operation and I don't need a plaster cast. I've got to wear the boot for another two weeks then can gradually start reducing it's use.
I'm then cleared for "gentle cycling". Can't grumble at that.
PS sent from my iPhone from 'spoons Roojelly. Dying of thirst waiting for Pez.

It's healing nicely so I've taken the "boot" off and snuck out for an hour on the Ragley. I'm staying on tarmac for the next few weeks as I don't want to re-break it.
Oooooh Jeez, I needed a fix!
Just a gentle build up now.
