Talking to a lad who knows one of the Pinkbike test riders who has said the best bike he has tested this year has been the Bird Aeris, if that's any help - worth a look anyway.

Canyon Nerve 8.9 currently reduced to £1614 (+ about £48 p&p so a little bit over). Weighs about 29lbs.

Cheers for answering guys. I ended up getting the meta and a decathlon dropper post on sale. BrAkes are SRAM db5 but I can swap out for slx cheap enough if no good. Anyone any experience of them.

SLX brakes or the Meta? the meta's are brilliant value and the lads on here who have them seem well pleased, don't think you'll go far wrong there. if it was the brakes then a perfect choice for a do it all trail bike. I've had the Deores on the SS and XT's on the HT and I am very impressed, not got the modulation of the RX's on the Chief but not as expensive either.
