Well I bought some Chinchillas. What I'm going to do with them? Not a clue, apparently they don;t make good trail dogs.. keep the little buggers caged up!! when my nephews were young lads they had a pair that were either let out accidently or escaped.when they finally found them they`d burrowed their way through the back of a sofa and built a nest inside it.

Cheeky buggers. All mine do at the moment is eat and jump every time the other one moves.

Well today I thought I would be stuck for a ride due to other commitments. This morning I had to take my youngest to an outward bound type birthday party, grass sledging and underground cave warrens at waddow hall near waddington, quite cool for a group of 5 year olds.the afternoon I promised to take the family on to settle for a flower pot festival. For the party I feared three hours of hanging around with the other parents though, pretending to be friends when I don't know any of their names and don't really want to. So I was pleased to get a text saying their would be guides from the hall and a couple of teachers going so we could leave the kiddies and pick them up. So cx bike on the roof and worked out a nice circular route taking in Dunsop bridge and back. I started to panic for time when the first few miles were up a bastard climb towards slaidburn but after that there was some fast downs and a lot of fairly flat so the just short of 22mile route was 1.43 and got me back in time for a wash, change of clothes and to scoff down some of the left over sandwiches. Rolling hills, cx bike, fence yes it could be Gunner all over again. In fact it's getting so quiet on here it could be MTBE. Flower pot festival as advertised by my eldest. Settles a nice little place, plenty of cyclist and bikers out today, must ride around there sometime soon. The hills overlooking Dunsop bridge also looked inviting.

Used this to travel 300 miles to our holiday destination Walked along this ( yes I've got the bike !) To find our holiday cottage had'nt been finished .... ..its actually a ruined settlement ( Coille Ghillidh)..only accessed by the sea or walking ...still the abandoned Catamaran will make a good project ! In the distance the Isle of Rassay. And to the left of the Isle of Rassay..is the Isle of Skye ( in the distance) ..I'll probably have a quick swim over there in the morning .... Tonights supper ....just stand still till Iget the gun out of the roof box old fella ... ...and burgers for lunch tomorrow There is a trail heading over a bridge over the river just outside the door of our cottage ..hows that for planning !? More later ...but the cottage and location are more than we had hoped for ..

Did this yesterday, not my best day, just felt fatigued, sore legs today, mind you we did quite a lot of climbing, i ended up cutting it short near the end as the legs just gave up, it's not like me, it still beats gardening though :-) www.strava.com/activities/348635982/overview34.7km Distance 3:14:30 Moving Time 1,305m Elevation

Neil, great pics and it looks fantastic. I am a bit worried about the cling film in the glove box mind - should the locals be worried? or only if you get your balaclava and banjo out?

Not so much today, but yesterday and Friday had two exploratory outings along Sutton Bank (North Yorks). Friday I just did the National Park blue trail for hour and a half and is tame as I expected, but with one or two bits of encouraging interest, and all in a reasonably spectacular location (for the lowlands of englandshire). So went back Saturday and explored a bit of the network of bridleways which wind up and down the cliff face that is Sutton Bank, Boltby Scar etc.. had much more fun in two hours than I had been expecting. Proper old sunken bridleways which must have been quarry horse tracks, and still used by horses and turned to mush, so bikers have carved parallel trails amongst the rocks and roots up along the high edge of the sunken holloway. Fun. So I will set more time and extend this exploration in near future to build a route. If anyone has further intiminate knowledge of this area please advise.
