:)Today I was out over the long mynd and paused my tomtom multi sport watch, but instead of pausing it, it stopped it I had to start it again and now, when uploaded to strava it looks like 2 seperate rides. So is there anyway that I can amend this on the main strava site, or is my ride always to be in 2 seperate parts

It's exactly the sort of thing that I tried asking in an earlier post how you can edit rides. As far as I have worked out Strava and Garmin provide no ability for this kind of simple editing. I've also more than once forgotten to save my ride before driving home, ending up with a route showing 60 miles at more than 80mph. I used to use a Cateye Stealth GPS 'puter. When you uploaded these routes to Cateye Sync and Cateye Atlas I was able to fix this easily, which suggests that Strava/Garmin could do it if they wanted but they choose not to... I can't see the reasoning for that, but I bet the accountants can. The downside with Cateye was slow to find a satellite lock and the website can be really slow and clunky to negotiate. Which is why I bought a Garmin Edge200, cheap and simple but no way to edit tracks (and it doesn't tell the time also!). I didn't get many suggestions for editing solutions(apart from Glynn suggesting Garmin Basecamp, which I haven't tried out yet) so I guess it's just thee and me who are bovvered! I may have time to check out Basecamp this week. Will report back.

Thanks gramish, its so frustrating!!! I really need to use auto pause. This is the second time this week the watch has done this to me, over the wyre on tuesday I found a great piece of flowing single track, the kind that cant help but put a massive smile on your face, only to find the watch switched off!!! Gave me a sick feelimg for the rest of the ride:'-(

I'd personally dump the watch - seriously, it's supposed to be abut fun? but you can edit rides anyway, I believe,

If strava is taking away the enjoyment from your rides then I wouldn't use it. It's meant to be about fun.
Yesterday I rode without strava or my gopro and it just felt a lot better

If I repeat a route (which is not often as there is always something new when you haven't been riding for years and years) it's interesting to compare times on segments etc. but it is never an aim, just a result.

That's a fair comment. I was riding up my usual trails and so I didn't feel the need to record it as I've done the ride so many times before. If I was out on a new route then I would run it as it's interesting to see all the stats and follow the route again if it's good, however if you're just out for a bit of fun up the woods then it's just better without having to wait around for the technology and without getting lost In the world of racing down trails trying to get higher on the leaderboard, which although can be fun, it usually ends in disappointment when you realise you're not as fast as you thought! Keep the strava battles for the roadies in their post ride coffee shop stops

:)yeah i should get rid of it, hubbys already threatened to bin it, but ive not long bought it so want to get my moneys worth I also like to see how I progress myself, if I can make improvements and to track where ive been. Like the trip over the wyre, i didnt know if i would be able to find the decent again as the watch switched off. Hubby went out with friends over the wyre the next day (i have the swimming bath run) and found it again though

You don't need to bin it Kalli - just don't let it rule your rides. I think it's a handy tool, but it ain't the be all and end all, that's all.
