So sad, we take it for granted that we will get up and give it another go. My heart goes out to his family.

Kind of a stark reminder that we are doing what is an extreme sport. I'll be interested to see the outcome of this though.

That's horrible. Seb is right too, I've ridden Swinley and although I thought it was a great Trail Centre I'd have classed it as about the tamest I have ridden. It just shows that if luck is against you, even the tamest off can be devastating. With no details though the poor bloke may have suffered a heart attack, which can happen to anyone, anytime.
Still terrible to hear.

Saw this thread on STW too, really sad. I'm investing in a full face for when I ride alone on the back of this.

Thing is, it's all speculation. It could well be a case that he died through something such as a heart attack, as Moto said. Have you ever looked at how many people die on a golf course from walking to each hole? Loads do sadly.
Jonny, a full face is all well and good, but the safest thing you can do when you ride on your own is not to ride outside of your limits. A full face won't prevent whiplash based injuries.

I understand what you mean, but as you said earlier we play a dangerous game. From what the riders from Swinley on STW have said is the lad went down face first, my Mrs has seen this and she's adament I get a full face now for when I'm out alone and to be honest I think I'd feel a little better.

I've not actually read anything about it, I'll do a little reading now. Maybe instead of a full face, persuade her to buy you a nice new shiney Bell Super2R?

ha ha, to be honest I'm just going to get 661 I reckon. For once on STW it hasn't become a big arguement, some people have made some very good points about safety. Letting your partner know an time to contact etc.

Have you got a link to that thread? Wouldn't mind reading it myself.

He was an ex soldier.
It says he died of a severe cardiac arrest.
Terrible news. Just goes to show what can suddenly happen.
