Picked up the courage to take my daughter over the monkey for the first time this afternoon. She has rode the dog loads and had been asking to try the monkey for ages. I was a bit worried about her riding tom, dick and harry... but she did it!!!! We stopped let her have a look at tom, rode down it to show her and she did it. Same with dick and harry, though she came off first time on harry and nearly went down the bank:-( thank goodness her dad was standing on the side and managed to catch her jersey!!!! Second go she nailed it. Think i was more scared watching her:'-D

Thanks guys, she's 13 and loves to ride her bike (I even think she's got her eye on mine . I wish my youngest would come out more but he just wants to go clay pigeon shooting with his grandad. My dad originally had a 410 for him to shoot, but since he's been using my mums automatic 12 gauge beretta I don't think I'll ever tempt him back, not even for birches valleys largest icecream cone

That's great work Kalli. Wish my lad would come out with me more. He's still a bit wobbly on his new ride so perhaps the Dog/Monkey isn't the best place to take him lol.

If my girl lived with me, i'd take her biking more. I only get 5 weeks a year, so we manage about 10 rides a year. At easter she did the Stegasaurus bridges for the first time With a dad who is now a fully qualified mtb coach she'll be flying through the trails in no time at all!!!! Great effort on the stegasaurus section, it was bad enough trying it as an adult for the first time, imagine how big it all looks for a child

Slightly off topic I know, but got to say - these last 2 weeks, with the schools being off, the amount of young un's I've seen on MTB's up the Chase is pretty amazing - the sport seems to be going from strength to strength - good to see!

Not quite as good as a lap of the dog but took the youngest out for a quick ride today. Nothing spectacular just a gentle pootle round by the visitors centre at Marquis Drive. She had a great time!
