650B Orange Crush built up from a mixture of parts I had on my old hardtail and the 650B specific parts I needed to buy. Total cost: £305. Only one image after changing the fork graphics as it was late last night!

Yes that's Dave. He's such a Ninja he got ran over last week. He managed to escape with just a bloodied chin though!

Probably going to shove some Hope Tech X2's on it next month and call it a day on any changes until I go 1x11 on my Meta. Then this will get the 10 speed XT as it's old 9 speed XT/Deore on this at the moment. It's still has 8 more gears than my 'good' bike though!

I had a pretty crap first ride out on it Wednesday night. I went over Clent Hills for the first time for a dusk/night ride. Had to stop to set the fork pressure and little things but I noticed that the front tyre was a bit low. Naturally I whipped the pump out of my bag, unscrewed the valve cap and it came off with the inner core of the valve attached. Put the core back in and tried to pump it up but then I sprung a leak from around the valve itself (tubeless on non tubeless magic rims). Previously to this I have been leaking from a small cut in the tyre that I have plugged up with one of those tubeless repair kits. This weeps occasionally but has generally been ok. Anyway I ended up having to push 2 miles up hill to get back to the car and use a C02 canister on it. It seems to have sealed up now and I'll test it out again tonight on a little local loop. I need to make sure it's all good for the chase skills social ride on Saturday!
From the 2.5 miles I did manage on it I found it to be a vast improvement over my old 456. It feels much much lighter on the climbs and actually has more give in the rear end than the steely! It was cornering like it was on rails down the wet steep single track and felt rather fast and composed. I'm guessing this is due to it being incredibly long, longer even than my Meta V4. Having such a long top tube will take some getting used to but first impressions are good!

A mate of mine kindly swapped the hubs on my wheels to some Hope Pro 2's I had on my old On One. I also sold the remainder of my On One to fund a new drivetrain for the Crush. Currently bidding on SLX cranks to complete the swap but here it is after a wash down after a 21 mile off piste session over Cannock. I'm really pleased with how it rides and can't believe I've built it for so little, even the budget dropper works great. As it stands it's cost £385, but the 80 I've spent so far on the drivetrain was funded from the sale of old parts so it hasn't really cost me any extra.
