So who's planning on getting themselves a set of race plates?
I am myself, it'll be my 3rd year on the bike properly and would quite like to see just how slow I am compared to the semi-pro guys. Events planned for myself? UKGE if it returns to Triscombe (it's a 20 minute drive from my door) being the main one, and then the Quantock Quake and Exmoor Explorer (they're more sportives than races), but still. Be good to enter something and see how I stack up.
Anyone else thinking of being thoroughly disheartened?

Mine have been steadily getting better, stamina has shot up massively, only walking is now when I've ballsed up a climb and can't get the momentum back really. If I only enter one it'll be the UKGE.
Also try and get up North more and meet you guys again.

No, not for me. Purely a social rider, perhaps if I had got into it 30 years ago maybe. I don't need to race to get disheartened about my riding

I'll race down to the pub after a ride... That's about it!
Did have thoughts and even plans to take part in some races this year put pulled out of all of 'em. Racing has completely lost it's appeal for some reason.
I may take part is some Racers Guild events at Stile Cop but even that's just a maybe.

Not me .. Don't get me wrong ..I'm an extremely competitive person but mountain biking came into my life at a fairly late stage and has and will only ever be for fun and to enjoy the countryside ! I'm not fit enough to race ..and don't have the will to get fit enough to win races ..and if I have no chance of winning then in my own mind there is little point in competing ! I have never believed that " it's all about the taking part " That's pure bullshit !

I have a Pmba enduro at Gisburn having missed out on my even more local one at Lee/cockhill. I enjoyed the ard rock but still feel a bit apprehensive about the downhill line that's used at Gisburn, may have to rake the chicken line.
Can't imagine I'll do them again after these other than the ard rock which is not as competitive (well not for me)and feels like a good day out riding stuff you couldn't otherwise do.

I've entered the Kielder 101. Pure madness of course, I'll be lucky to make the 80k cutoff... which means averaging 6.3 mph for 8 hours. Doesn't sound THAT bad when you say it quickly... it's a bit less than average speeds we do at the weekend, but of course only for 25 - 30 miles, not 50. But I'm in it for the crack and to say I've had a go. But also seeing as there is, as of currently, only 1 other entrant in my age group, I'm on the podium already.. If I don't disgrace myself thoroughly I shall strongly consider the ardrock next year.

Tempted to enter one an Enduro next year, been looking on the UKGE website
Now ive got a car and all, should make it alot easier. Only ever entered one event before, that was last summer and i placed 13th out of 80 odd, so it would be good to test myself again.

I will keep an eye out, Triscombe looks like it will be the closest to me, still a 4 hour journey including boat, but im sure it would be worth it!

No racing for me. As Hodgy said, I'm pretty competitive but I know I'm pretty shit on a bike so there's no point in entering. I am definitely doing the Ard Rock again next year though as it is just like a mates ride out . I've booked the accommodation already

not bothered about racing, but I quite enjoy events. they're just like forum rides with 500+ riders with marshals and everything. I like the look of megavalache tho, that looks absolutely awesome!

Anyone done the Racers Guild ones over at Stile Cop? Write up says its all rollable and not too difficult. Might be tempted once shoulder fixed and full bouncer procured.

Im planning on taking the same approach as Zulu and no racing, I might even ditch Strava. I am a ridiculously competitive person and I end up heaping all sorts of pressure on myself that just takes all the fun out of it for me.
