Visited Cyb this morning with the wife and kids.
They went off to do a smooth fire road 10k with my wife on foot, youngest with stabilisers and my 8 year old on her little hardtail while I tackled the beast.
Did the beast but definitely went wrong after the cut through towards Gomez and after doing a few of the best long single track sections I found my way back onto big dug and hard to work my way back.
Overall a fun route but the fire road climbing is a bit excessive.
For back to the visiror centre and called the wife to find they didn't have a clue where they were but didn't seem close to home. So I set off on the awt twr (the original trail that goes the overside of the centre and up the opposite valley). Expecting I could do the 14 miles in an hour to an hour an half so even if the Mrs came back soon she could have some lunch while I finished.
However I didn't realise that after a short but fun section down from the centre to the road the next 3.5 to 4 miles was all climbing then after just one section from the summit it was more fire road climbing. Then a few great rocky aections snap crackle and pop were followed by a shed more climbing. Finally there was another run of 2 3 good ones such as flight path and man trap before a Coast back to the centre.
Got back there and the wife was waiting with a welcoming scowl. A bit of food and drink in the cafe calmed it to a frown and then I undid the good work when I passed my car riding up the car park and took Chloe for a few laps around the foundry skills loops. Well she enjoyed it anyway.
Summary would be Cyb is worth a visit of you are in the area and good to take the family but not worth a long trip as the good stuff just iant quite worth the leg work. Of course I'm sure a bit of local knowledge would vastly improve this rating.
I took a bit of footage until my battery ran flat before the best stuff. I lost a 20 note from my pocket and had to cut short our food and drink order but overall a much better day then we would have had visiting yet another indoor play area or petting farm.
