Following on from Hodgys main Grizedale ride thread for the 10/10, I thought it best to start a separate one for the alternative smaller group ride so it doesn't complicate things too much.
So we are looking at doing Ants Grizedale based route this week.
Graham and Ste what day do you fancy, should we go for Thursday? Forecast seems reasonable and may be a bit quitter than a Friday.
I have GPX route loaded on my Garmin and a print out of a map kindly sent by Dave T combined with Grahams maps and memory we should be covered.
Would anybody else like to join us?

Just thought I should do a disclaimer based on the title of this thread / explain a little more ! I said that this was my favourite ever ride based on the sheer quality of the 5 rocky downs which it contained ..it won't neccessarily be your own " best ever ride" it does not " flow " all the way around ..with quite a high percentage of fire road & tarmac to link things up ..although the ride on the 10th October will include a good bit more of the red route and less fire road . I would however go on to say that if you are a mountain biker with a hole in your arse ( which you might well need as you crap yourself going too fast on the very rocky downhills ) then you can't fail but to enjoy these sections ..but there is no money-back guarantee !!! Have fun!

Eh Neil, no back tracking now, your previous advertisement included "one of the finest natural mountain bike rides you will ever undertake in this country".
Seriously though I'm sure it will be a cracker, 5 good descents in the space of 20 miles or so is plenty good enough for me. Most rides are good ones in some way shape or form.
I've done some of the magazine rides advertised as Britains best single track and the like and some have in my opinion fell way short of what my mental image of being amongst the best of anything should be, however I still enjoyed it .

Oh it is ..inside my own little world ... I can't think that anyone calling themselves a mountain biker wouldn't enjoy it....but just covering myself in case there is any legal action ! ( laughs hysterically ! )

Would anybody else like to join us? Sorry to say I can't do Thursday now I'm afraid, summat's come up. So if Friday can still be OK for everyone I'll be there. Weather seems similar both days. But we'll all be well fooked if we rely on my memory... maps, compasses, apps, garmins, sextants, doves... tool up heavily lads cos I'm nearly senile. Anyone running Viewranger app by any chance?

Pity it's during the week John as I'm in the Lakes myself this weekend but not until late Friday. I've ridden a couple of good routes starting out from Grizedale but would be interested to have a look at your GPX file to see if there's any good bit's I'm missing out on. Last Fridays ride over Garburn pass has whetted my Lakes appetite again

If Friday's okay with Ste its okay for me. I just need to confirm tomorrow.
What time can you get there gaz. We could always second guess where we would be for a certain time for you to join us. I need to be heading back by 3,30ish though so would need to start by around 10.30am.
if I hadn't planned to go mid week j could have gone Saturday morning instead but never mind we can try somewhere else next Saturday if you want. I will send you the fox route and map in any case so you can take a look whenever you get chance.

Huge apologies to all but I have been overtaken by personal events and can no longer make this ride this week. I wish I'd pulled out completely yesterday instead of just saying I couldn't do Thursday. Can only say sorry to you both John and Steve for mucking up the ride. Hope you can sort something out.

No problem at all Graham, in fact maybe a bit of a relief as I've got a niggly bit of cold or something, just feeling a bit drained so was going to try my best but had a doubt that I may not have been up to it. Going to do a local ride tomorrow morning or give another day to recover if I don't feel right and go friday instead.
We will fit it in at some point. More importantly I hope you get sorted whatever it is.
