Barrfy...you sure? They are bringing out a 27.5 version for 2016 but I'd wait to hear reviews before buying - apparently the handling is shocking! 2015 Mondraker vantage review

That Commencal HT looks lovely Jan. I still ain't convinced by steel though, for the extra weight, does it REALLY make any difference? I had a (very short) ride on one and it felt no different to the Bird.

I like the carbon 456 i have just built but it seems to creak a fair bit, I prefer a nice quiet ride.

Had an email back from Bird, there's no XL frames out for a while as they releasing the updated sizing at the end of November, so probably no frames until mid December.
Looks like it'll be the TransAM unless something else crops up.
Jan, you don't know what the max fork travel for the Meta is do you?

Are they re-doing the Aeris sizing too do you know?

Dirk, I'm not sure. The guy that got back to me didn't say, just said the sizing is being updated is all. Maybe making the large larger a little bit.
Typer, is that a 160mm fork you've got on there already?

That SC looks the nuts, anybody want to buy a zero frame 2 rides old ?
Even though it will look like a beast with 170mm, Personally even if it can handle it I think 140 150 is more than enough travel for an hard tail, if you are hitting stuff that you need 170mm for what's going to happen at the back?
I think the zero us rated to 150mm, however climbing some steep chutes today with fork set at 150mm the front was lifting all over the show and you need to get right on top if it at all times to weight it, which sometimes adds to fatigue climbing. Fortunately I have the dual travel so a quick flick and Ive dropped down to 120mm and the angles were perfect for motoring up the hill with much more control. Only my two penneth.

It's now down to a 4 sided coin toss:
Sell all the spare parts I have Build up a TransAM Wait for Bird to get XL frames in Build up the SC
Too many choices.

Must say I agree re the forks - mine are 140mm Sweeps on the Zero and even at that the front is very 'poppable' (which I love), having said that even at 140 you have to get over the bars on steep stuff, also, for what I ride 140's are spot on and can cope with it all. As Kirky says -150 ok anything above and you'll have a front end that will be w@nk on steep climbs?

Spoke to the chaps at Bird. The Zero is being updated more in line with the Aeris dimensions. Current Large Zero is 615 ETT and Medium Aeris is 620 ETT.

O/T They're both best part of 25 - 30mm longer than my current bike lol. But with shorter stem reach shouldn't be a massive amount more on either Birds.

Typer, is that a 160mm fork you've got on there already? Nah mine is running a 140mm fork but I've seen plenty with 160mm. I got the forks pretty cheap but I wouldn't have had any hesitation in plugging in some 160's if I'd had them lying round
