As some may know, I've currently got my frame apart doing a bearing and bolt swap! I have now received my frame and headset bearings, aswell as outer gear cable and i have ordered my stainless steel frame bolts, aswell as rear shock bushing! However there's one last piece to complete the puzzle. I removed it in an attempt to separate the rear triangle into chainstay and seatstay, so i could get better access to clean it. However, all i succeeded in doing was removing this and damaging it at the same time, so before i rebuild, i need to find another. Only problem is, i dont have a clue what it is! Its basically a threaded insert/bush. Two M5 bolts thread into it from either side, holding the chainstay and seatstay together at the rear. It measures: 18.5mm long, 8mm outer diameter, then 4/5mm (M5) internal. It should be smooth along its outer diameter, but those markings are from where i had to use some mole grips to remove the bastard! So, can any one help? I've attached some pictures below, aswell as a link to something i found which is similar, but not the correct size www.pro-bolt.com/workshop-other/collars-spacers/alloy-collar-m5-thread-7-5mm-o-d-10mm-length.html#.VgwmpexVikoSo, if anyone could help, it would be great. Spent about an hour walking around a business park earlier trying to see if anyone had any of the bolts in stock, but in the end i had to order off eBay when i got home. Would like to get the bike built up ASAP so like i said, just waiting to find this now! Cheers

Haha
Well I've contacted Maxim on a few occasions. I only got one response which was a message on Facebook! I then asked them about the bolt sizes for the frame and they read the message but never replied! No answer from my email and their website was down last time I checked. Not the best customer service haha
Just thought someone on here may know

this is just the sort of thing I did in my over exuberant youth, taking things apart to clean and fix up in a bid to learn. still like to tinker but have had too many expensive feck ups to realise some things are better left alone or to others. like the time i tried to change a mounting bush in my old mini, sheared a bolt off in the engine casing, had to get a tow to a garage, who said they they would have to remove engine to get at it to fix properly, and cost more than the car, or do a bodge on it. As a skint 17yr old I opted for the bodge and was handed the car back with all sorts of welded bracing holding the engine on, looked like the forth road bridge under the bonnet!!! it was so solid it made for great clutch poppin wheel spins, happy times.
Any hoo, hope you get it sorted.

Would it be possible to replace this with an m8 nut and bolt?

Would it be possible to replace this with an m8 nut and bolt? Would be a last ditch attempt at fixing it I suppose Can't really see how I won't be able to find what the little thing is, just need a name and I'm then sure I will find a supplier. Also came home today to new shock mounting kit. Turns out it's the eyelet bushings that need replacing so that's another £15! Anyhow the bike will hopefully be in top shape once done

Is it a Pivot Axle or Pivot Pin? I would say this would be a special from the frame manufacturer are they still in business?

Cheers mate Pivot axle has turned up a few results but nothing that matches mine. Not sure if Maxim are still trading, yet again they have read my Facebook message but not replied! Found a Pivot Pin distributor online who can make custom's, so i'm just waiting to here back from them. Also emailed a few bolt suppliers/engineering shops too Hoping something comes up Thanks for the help

Did you take a pic of it on the bike ? Nope, If it helps, i can take one of the non-drive side which still has the insert inside as i didn't want the hassle of removing that too! Cheers
