Anyone cycled around the lake or in the hills around there? I'm staying over night tomorrow and the OH has just confirmed bikes are allowed to come  |

Its been about 5 years ago now, we took the kids for a ride around the lake. I think it was about 11 miles but it was flat, lovely views though and we had a great family cycling day. A friend of my hubbys said there is some great riding in the hills around there though and some really tough climbs, I cant comment on that but have been thinking about going and having an explore at a later date myself, so will look forward to hearing your report...

Thanks Kalli, I think we will do the family ride around the lake on Saturday afternoon and go up to the waterfalls at the north end. I'm then hoping to get out early Sunday morning to explore with my OS map in hand!

we stayed near bala in august and surprisingly it was hard to find a good route on the doorstep. altho the berwynion hills have a 10 mile route in may's MBR mag starting in llangynog just north west of lake vyrnwy. sounds like theres quite alot to go at round that area heres 3 for starters, but clicking on the easy/medium/hard route links seems to be a bit mixed up singletrackworld.com/trailguide/uk/wales/berwyn-mountains/ |
