wolfie these events are excellent. they usually have a choice of length of ride, summat like 25-30km, 45-50km, or 70-80km.theres a real mix of fitness and ability or riders of all ages.the fit guys at the front of the starting line take it serious but you can take it as relaxed as you like. you can cut your ride short at the split points if you don't think you can make it round.just make sure you let the marshals know so they can head count at the finish.they are well organised, the chainraction/scott ones include a pasta party and live band, camping for the weekend or they don't mind if your not even riding, anyone can camp-up for free.me and a work mate are doing the ruthin mtb marathon this weekend (used to be the chainreaction one).ive done the grassington and long mynd ones also. last year and year before we did the howies CYB enduro, be warned if you do the long one, ITS BRUTAL! your best getting in a bit of training to make the most of it ,but they arnt races, they are events............enjoy! its a great day/weekend/ride.

I have done one of the Scottish Enduro Series at Laggan and doing the last one in Kinlochleven and it was a great day out.
The whole course was about 16 miles incorporated the trail centre and natural parts near the trail centre. There was a mixture of pros and amateurs their so the class of rider was good.
Was a great day out and a great learning experience. My advice is to take practice day easy and gun it on the Sunday. (If they allow practice days)

There also enduro stage races aswell. So you are only timed doing trail sections and you ride, walk or dance to the next section.
More like a gravity stage race than enduro, people just name them so it grabs attention I think.

Is it Enduro or Endurance? Seems like the Enduro term is used for both types of racing. I like the idea of folk turning up on their 20kg downhill rigs and finding out it's a 12 hour marathon race, not timed stages!
