If you cut your hose, and don't press the lever, or move the pads about, you shouldn't require a bleed. After all they're decent brakes!.. Unlike Avid!...

You can re-use the barb if you can get it out without damaging it. Not worth the hassle though.

No worries dude I only had them on the ciner cone for 3 weeks! They were just the elixar 1's.. But i hated them lol. The deores the LBS replaced them with are amazing.. I'll personally not touch avids again !

XTR or Hope, XTR for power, hope for looks!.. Never used XTR but i've never been ken on the XT's I have. I like Hope because they look good (tech 3 I'm not sure about yet) excellent adjustability, feel nice, UK brand and all the parts are reusable and thy're easy to bleed.A tad pricey I'll admit but you get a lot for the cash!

I`ve got hope tech 4`s on the bandit, they sure is purdey little mofo`s but don`t write off shimano deore 596 or 617`s,they`re excellent stoppers, far better than you`d expect them to be for the money.

I'm not knocking Shimano I just prefer Hope. I've got Tech 2 levers and M4 calipers on my Mega and think they are the best brakes I've used. Got Tech 3 levers and X2 calipers on the 456 and they're great but not keen on the look of the Tech 3 lever.Shimano XT on the Singlespeed just don't compare with either at of Hope's!
