Hello guys,
Been a while since ive posted on here.
One of my brakes have developed an issue and started getting air into the system a slight bit so made a lot of lever travel.
I think it may soon be time for a upgrade as ive had the brakes for 3 years now.
I was thinking of a set of Shimano Saints?
Does anybody use these?
Or have any other reccomendations?
Thanks in advance
Phil

Saints are a bit overkill unless it's for a DH rig.... have a shufty at the Shimano XT brakes... some good bargains to be had over at Merlin Cycles...

I've currently got some Shimano XTR's. Fantastic breaks, I find them a bit off and on, by that I mean you can tell when the pads hit the rotor. Gives a nice feel.
I've also owned Hope Tech3 E4's and while I love all the Hope kit on my bike, I just didn't like the brakes. They felt massively overkill for what I was using them for.

I was worried about the overkill situation.
I ride a Mega do trail centres and also some downhill tracks.
I currently have formula T1s and they are really powerful for a 2 pot caliper

I've got a set of SRAM DB5's for sale if you're interested?
Brand spanking new and come with Matchmaker X clamps.

I'm using SLX with the finned pads, so cheap and the performance is decent, they dont have the modulation that i had on my Tektro's, but the power is plenty full, and for £40 each, im not complaining!

Thanks in advance Phil Thats strange, this has happened to my formula T1s (rear break) this weekend, went to get bike out and found i didnt have a rear break. A rubber o ring was damaged and was drawing air into the system. Got it working again and manged to get my ride in on saturday ( though later than planned). Dont think its long to the world though:-(

I've not used Saints but did have a set of ZEEs which are the same as Saints but without the level adjust, fantastic brakes but now I'm using XTs and find them just as good as the Zee 4 pot brakes and they're lighter, bonus!

I'm using the xts, can't fault them at all.
Both CRC and merlin are doing them for the same price on the older m785 versions

I ran XTR on the latest bike and they were great and really powerful just with one finger. Beautiful slim design as well...but if cost is a bit steep, surely you can't go wrong with XT's...and not bad at all for the cost!

Can't fault the only set of brakes I've had on mine ...it's what you get used to I guess but Hope Mono's have been brilliant ...

Got XT's and Formula RX's - tbh of the two the Formulas feel better but the XT's are still very good - especially for the money.

I know Beans raves about the Guides and I also know that they must be good as he's had XT and Hopes so can compare - don't know how expensive the Guides are though?

You're looking at around £200 for a set of RSC's. You can get them cheaper if you don't want all the adjustability.. You can get more expensive too with the Ultimate's!

That may be a factor then - depends on his budget.
