I've just spoken to Jaco this afternoon who is keen to spend the day here next Saturday ...the usual stuff ..black trail etc .. Anyone else ? Funnily enough Gaz just sent me a txt and is maybe heading this way in January ..I realised after replying that the date you mentioned was a Sunday ..which could well prove to be a problem as I am now a taxi service for my boys rugby ...Saturday's are fine ..but no real problem if it suits your group ..I won't cry too much ..haha

Saturday is normally fine but I have my work Crimbo party on Friday so I'm expecting to be rough Saturday.

Tosspot moment coming up ... Although I have known about it for months I just hadn't equated to the fact that my missus is away on Friday through til Saturday afternoon on the " girls " Christmas night out ..leaving me to look after Alex ..or should that be the other way around ... Sorry but I'm out of this ride ..and probably every other weekend ride until the turn of the year ..but hope to get out mid -week for a couple of rides ..if time allows . If anyone else can find the time to join me then that would be great ..won't be venturing too far afield and open to suggestions ... Hope you have a good ride ....see you soon

You're temporarily in my boat then Neil. I don't mind missing weekends as I hate riding on jam packed trails - puts me right off. Having said that I do miss a bit of company on a ride so solo mid-weekers are a bit dull. S'pose I'm saying that my ideal ride is a group ride of mates on an empty trail! Don't ask for much, do I?

They are though - seeing more than 4 people on a trail is jam packed to me!
Perhaps I'd been riding too long mid-week at Cannock, I'm just not used to seeing many other riders and that's how I like it. Cannock of a weekend is particularly bad though, tbh - it is the most visited trail centre in the UK.

Fancy something mid week around Reeth Neil once the weather improves to cold but dry and slightly less breezy? About an hour and half 65 miles from us both. I don't know way routes but there's supposed to be plenty to go at.

John ...it's not really a winter ride ..but I did Hawes to Horton circular ride a few years back which was terrific ..and I have wanted to revisit ..that's in the general area you were thinking of ..but it needs a good day ..

Sounds good for when we've had a stretch of cold crisp days, hortons within reach for me. Give me a reminder when the mud starts to firm up.
Unfortunately or the opposite dependant on if I look at it from spare time to ride bikes or more money in the coffers perspective, I've just finished full time employment after 26 years but looks like I've secured two contracts of freelance consultancy for two days a week each. So now only have one day spare which could sometimes be taken up with overspill from one or the other. With notice though I should be able to still sort the occasional mid week rides out though.

From what I can gather ..looks like it could just be Dave & Jaco going today ..Graham can't make it either and unless Ant & Russell got in touch directly then that looks to be about it ... Hope the weather holds and you have lots of fun !

Haha ...just had a phone call from a Hexham number to find Dave on the end of the phone ..a late call last night knocked this ride on the head ...can't say that I blame them ..it's bloody awful out there ! At this rate it's going to be summer before we get out again ..where is the cold , dry & frosty weather that makes this time of year fun ?

Good grief it's sodding awful outside. For once I'm glad I had to knock this one over anyway. Knackering week so was the very grateful recipient of a lie-in 'til 11am this morning No good really though, I've got work to finish and domestic duties to attend to. Still, I've two brace of West Indies Porter and the remains of a bottle of Jack to end the day with so that should cure most ills, but won't really help me get up on Sunday morn to go into the office.. I am still (vainly?) hoping for a dryish day or two before the new year to get out, and I like the sound of one or other of those dales rides. I'll try to post up when things look likely.
