Hello everyone. Does anyone have any suggestions or recommendations based on experience? For the custom built I'm doing i was thinking about "going the extra mile" and get a Hope. But is it really worth triple than a Shimano (even XTR)? And then there is also the Chris King, which goes even higher at almost double the Hope??? Is this just brand price tag or are they really worth it? I had a Hope Press Fit on the previous bike for 10months without any problem but maybe it was too soon to get any issues. I'm sold on Chris King headsets TBH. Ta

I've had a über bike ceramic In my frame since April, I know it's not that long buts it's been wet nearly every week, there's zero play. Sometimes can be had for around £50 the steel bearing one is bett than all the cheap xt plastic stuff as well.

Looks like Hope it is then...Chris King might be a step too far and unnecessary...doubt it it would outlast the Hope by double the time to justify its cost! Thanks

Not long put a hope on in mine, it spins better than anything else ive had, even my super slippy road bike feels draggy compared to the steel hope. Think about it this way, in four years ive had five normal shimano BB's, in the same space of time I know people who have not even looked at their hope BB it still runs smooth.

So the next question is…ceramic or steel? is ceramic worth it and noticeable different? good for the UK weather? Ive heard the ceramic bearings don't last that long?

I've run the same hope steel one in my last 3 frames over about 4/5 years , had to pop the seals off clean and regrease earlier this year and now it's fine again , that was the 1st time I'd looked at it though , go Hope

Hope 73mm, 30mm spindle BB here, and it's lovely. I doubt I'll ever get anything else unless Chris King relase a BB with a 30mm spindle.
