Something with a lowish knobs that won't roll or fold, and in super tacky on the front like a minion single ply, with something faster and harder compound at the back like an ardent or rock razor or Larsen. Polished pebbles and tyres don't mix well, but super tacky should find some grip.
Oh and about 25psi. If you're not too heavy.

The HD seems to cope well on the front for me around Cannock - very rarely wash out these days. Or is that cos I'm slower?

Problem What works for loose packed doesn't work so well on hard slippery pebbles, hans dampf is a decent option too, the old nobby nics aren't the best for grip, the tread is a bit open, ok as a rear tyre though...

What tyres are we running I ride the chase and seem to be lossing my front end ore often then not What tyre do I need I ride a 650b Cheers guys Dont take this the wrong way but if you're losing your front tyre more often that not then it may not be the tyre at fault, it may be more to do with your riding position. I had the same issue even when using a Magic Mary (which is grippy as hell) I ended up taking a skills course and I found out I was in the wrong position on the bike and not moving the bike from under me enough, now thats sorted and i'm able to go round corners faster than I ever have.

Agreed, it could be position, pressures, even damper settings, and with the wrong tyre you'll struggle, plus Cannock has a weird habit of being un grippy, and especially with a Magic Mary's tall spikes, they need soft soil to dig into, they are rubbish on hardpack, but incredible in soft soil.

Try the free things first like fork and position, if your washing out try notching forward a tad or softening the fork up a touch. I was having a total mare with washing out and generally a sketchy front end till I realised I had the fork preload all the way up, now it's a little under half and so much more useful. Also play with tyre pressure, a bit more squish means more surface contact.
