Here's the route I did late last year www.strava.com/activities/415563834Pooley bridge end rather than Windemere You have to pick your day to ride it as if there's been any rain it can be a bit of a bog fest and to make the most of the view you need a clear day. I've done it a couple of time and prefer to ride it the wrong way round, going down Hartsop rather than up. This is near the top of the Hartsop climb!

It's a circular route so ends up back at Hartsop ...but it's techy Singletrack that undulates . The drop from the top takes you down to The Cockpit where you turn for home ..it's been a while I will look it up and give you a better description ...it would however be a bit of an epic to start it from your cabin door !

Really Gaz ...you have surprised me there ..to me that goes " against the grain " and surely there would be sections where you would still have to walk your bike down ? Won't knock it though as I haven't tried it ..and you are in the area a lot more than myself

It sure is ... File it for the summer ..it's been a good few years since I've done this ride ..so wouldn't mind doing it myself on a good day ..weekday or weekend if you want some company .. Although I do think that a good few more might be interested ...

High Street via Ulswater shore would be a proper day out!

High Street via Ulswater shore would be a proper day out! Mighty fine ! What about a day mid June ..I'm happy to go with the flow in terms of mid-week or weekend ..the only time I couldn't do it would be the first week as that's our Skye / Applecross trip ....

Hmm..this has gone a little bit dead in the water ! I know that there is a lot going on with holidays / the Helvellyn ride in May ...so maybe turning your mind to another Lakeland ride is a little bit much to ask at the moment ...also bearing in mind folks' shift patterns at work .. I would love to do the High Street ride again ..the way Gaz ( Windy) has suggested includes some fantastic Singletrack along the shores of Ullswater and given the right weather is one of the best rides in these parts .. Without creating a new post ..I was thinking in terms of week com. 13.6.16 either during the week or if at the weekend sat 18.6.16 ( can't do Sunday) . To give this a chance though lets get all of the other rides out of the way ..and maybe revisit this after your Helvellyn ride ?

Sorry for the lack of response on my part Hodgy,I'm in the process of sorting out my holidays a work for the year at the minute (or at least the big ones) but should be free for any weekend in June. We normally stay at a campsite on the Lakeside (www.watersidefarm-campsite.co.uk) the first weekend it opens (4th March)so I can ride this area but I'm thinking I'm going to have to have a trip up there before then. I was thinking of a forum ride a bit sooner to ride The Ullswater bridleways-Boredale Hause-Ullswater shore route as it's mainly rocky so is good in all weathers and doesn't have the altitude of Highstreet. I just trying to think of a way to include Martindale Common bridleway up to Boredale Hause into the route so as to make it a worth while trip so anyone traveling any sort of distance. I'm thinking of a sneeky trip up one weekend very soon to try and link it in

I'll try t make it be it in march or June, why not post up a date for both with a slightly different route. Wouldn't mind the grizedale ride or one of Gazs lower level Ambelside rides.
