So my wife would like an exercise bike to use at home as she wants to get fitter but can't always get out due to kids etc. I have resisted the idea as I think it will be used for a month and then collect dust.
I've just been looking at options and then thought about a turbo trainer. She has a town bike (fairly basic job from argos years ago), could it be used on a TT? Obviously, I could put my road bike on it but i would have to change the saddle and height as her is a sit up a beg style.
I think a TT would be best as I can use it too!!!!
What do peeps think and what TT do you recommend? Decathlon have a couple reasonably priced.

We had a turbo trainer in the man cave but it took to much effort for me to set it up before I used it and it was cold in there and there were a ton of other excuses, I think sometimes us women just don't want to have to faff around with stuff before we use it. Like you my other half was a little skeptical about getting an exercise bike but I just kept on nagging and eventually he agreed. We had a look around an decided on the matt Roberts spin bike with an 18kg fly wheel and put it in the bedroom. It's not the most romantic place to keep a spin bike but it is practical as it's always ready to use and just up stairs, no messing around and most excuses gone. Now I use the spin bike twice a week and ride twice a week and I find its helped with leg strength and fitness. I like to use the gcn training videos on youtube to. If she doesn't like the videos she could always watch the TV to kill the time.

Cheers Kalli, hadn't really considered a spin bike rather than a exercise bike. I'll have a look around.

I've got an older version of this TT: Cycleops MagSolidly built, lasted about 6 years so far. Can't see why her bike shouldn't fit as you can vary the support clamp separation distance. They supply a steel QR to use in your bike so you don't knacker your own. I couldn't tell any resistance change on the magnetic adjuster so I just leave it on max. A couple of things to note: TT's destroy normal tyres. The first time I tried one I set it up in the conservatory in front of a radiator and left my normal tyre on. At the end of the session there was a black rubber smear up the radiator/along the floor/on the window above. TT specific tyres are available. I've got a loud blue schwalbe one and unless you like changing tyres lots it's a good idea to keep a cheapo spare wheel with the same cassette on to use. They also lift the rear wheel off the floor it's a good idea to put something under the front wheel too so you've not got a permanent feeling of going ever so slightly downhill. Stands are available or you could use a handy brick. If I was to choose a spin or exercise bike I'd defo go for the spin bike. Spare seat post/saddle for your bike with a mark set at the right height for quick swapping over?
