For those eagle eyed readers out there, you may have noticed a change in my signature... Yesterday, i sold my Maxim Leela to a local guy, it's been up for sale for a while now, and although I've had interest in it online, he's the first person to come view it. Anyway, i wanted to sell it to get something lighter, a little less travel, and 650b wheels. I am just about to leave my house, get the ferry over to the mainland and pick something up, so i will update you guys later!

Well forget that 650b lightweight nonsense, I've gone and got this little rag machine... Its a DMR Bolt Long!!! Its slack as fuck, low as you like and it looks like it will be able to shred pretty hard! Specced out with a Fox coil rear shock, dual air Rockshox Revelations, XFusion dropper post (my first dropper), a brand new Shimano Zee 1x10 groupset, with XT 11-34 Cassette and a 32t Absolute Black narrowwide chainring. Brakes are Avid Elexirs (which i'll be swapping for SLX's). The wheels are mismatched, however i will try as get a matching rear wheel! Finishing kit is standard, Ragley stuff, but i've put my Funn wide bars on and my DMR Vault pedals. So yeah, its pretty well specced. Going to give the Maxxis rubber a try, i've never used them before so i'll see how they go, if not i've got a few different tyres in the garage. I think the bike looks amazing, the frame finish is pretty nice as well, and it seems like its been well maintained... Reading reviews, they say its not an every day bike, due to its weight and geo, however all my riding now consists of loops of the forest just riding all the trails. Gone have the days of 40 mile + XC rides, so i think this bike will be perfect for me... Its not to heavy either, being steel i expected it to be quite a beast, but it seems very similar to my old Maxim Bikes Leela, so it's definitely bearable! I just cant wait to go show it some berms, jumps and drops and see how it rides

Looks in mint condition mate, and like you say rad dude.! Apart from the 32mm rev forks that don't seem to be agood fit to such a slack and capable bike.

that looks a minter J,should suit your schralping style, get some vids up when you get chance. the froggy I just got rid of had a set of totems fitted,180mm travel and 40mm stanchions,i bet they`d suit that frame if it`ll take 180`s.
btw, what did happen to the lightweight 650b?

I always like bikes that are not common and you don't see very often! That gear combo will not be easy on the climbs!?lol...Assume is 11-36 cassette of course.

Cheers guys!!!!
I'm well happy with it, the guy I brought it from was really fair, he came and met me at the ferry which worked out cheaper than posting it and was a bit easier too!
The frame as a whole is weird haha, it's like a full suss dirt jumper with a long seat post! My main intentions were to get one of them new short travel trail bikes with big wheels. Mainly because most of the trails I ride don't warrant 150mm front and rear and are more fast rolling than technical. HOWEVER, I saw the bolt frame a while ago online and thought I'd love to have one of them, so when this came up for sale it was rude not to go for it!
I think the max fork travel is 160, minimum 120, and they were designed around 150. I will keep an eye out for some Lyriks or maybe a set of Fox Vans for up front. It's a weird combo as its only got 120 rear travel!
I can't wait to get out and ride it now, there will be a video up for sure!
Nope the cassette is 11-34. I think it will be fine though as I had a 34t chainring on my last bike with an 11-36, where as this has only got a 32t chainring, so it should feel similar. However this bike was never made to go up hills, and the closer spaced gearing should make the downhills better.
This bikes quite unique, however I'm sure I've seen a few around before.
Anyway thanks for the interest! I'll upload more pics when I upgrade/update the bike e.t.c

You had to find the right bike to match the pedals you won, i like your thinking, cos that's the kind of mental thing i'd do lol

how grippy are the pedals....seriously? don't be biased! and what shoe do you use...? I've only tried a few sets of pedals. . A set of Wellgo V8 copies, a set of Nukeproof Electrons, real DMR V8's and then my Vaults. It's close between the Vaults and the Electrons. Certainly if I were looking to 'buy' pedals again, I'd really be considering the electrons over the Vaults mainly because of their price to weight to performance ratio! However, the Vaults are the better pedal IMO. They look great, they grip better than the Electrons and are super smooth. Apparently they're easy to service and you can get spare pins and parts easily. The shape is nice, they're really wide and thin, and my shoes (just some old Vans Old Skool skate shoes) rarely leave them. I've yet to catch a shin on the pins in the 8 months or so of riding, unlike with the electrons which have left scars! So yeah, they are really good pedals. Personally I doubt I'd pay £110 for them, as the £30 electrons perform pretty damn well. On your nice new bike though, I'm sure the Vaults would look sweet as!

If I'm going to change to flats, its important for me that they are the grippiest possible...because I'm planning to keep this bike for a long time, the price becomes a bit less important (within limits of course) if you know what i mean...grip and durability are more important.

Well, i took the Bolt out for its first ride this morning! There's a lot to say about this bike, but i'll try keep it short. First of all, it climbs like a pig, the coil shock, combined with the slack geo and my lack of fitness meant that the first climb was a bit more painful than normal! After adjusting my saddle height e.t.c to get the best pedaling efficiency, i think added some Pro Pedal adjustment, which reduces pedal bob, and it made climbing and flat riding better After showing it some trails, i noticed that it was a bit harder to get up to speed, but once its there, the bike feels very comfortable, and its easy enough to control. Flat corners were fun, dangling a leg out and it just seemed to go around them like it was on rails. The low stand over made the berms really fun, and there were a few sections of trail which allowed me to literally swing the back out either side as i was on the brakes, which was really fun! I sessioned the FR section of the main trail. There's a new drop, which is pretty high and you get a nice bit of air time, which then leads into a big natural berm, then a choice of two jumps or a scrub corner, then down to another berm. This was a good place to try doing some basic adjustments on the suspension, as the run in was steep and bumpy, then you have the drops/jumps and lastly the berms, all with a bit of pedalling in between. I changed the bottom out adjuster, as well as slowing the rebound down on the shock, and increasing it on the forks. This was because i was getting chucked over the bars a bit on the jumps I did use my GoPro, however i will wait and upload some videos once i hit the DH trails, where this bike will really excel. It was really fun to ride, and i know its going to handle the steep trails with berms and jumps a lot better than the Maxim! I'm glad i swapped my front tyre over as well, as it gave me confidence when turning in, and although the trails are drying out now, there's still plenty of mud about! Especially in the middle of corners. One thing i did notice is the dropper doesnt have enough drop, for me to be able to ride it, then drop it and have it low enough for the DH. For the pedally trails, its fine, as i wont need the saddle as low, but if im up the DH trails, then i will have to drop the entire post so i can get the clearance Cheers!
