The Monkey is being a total pain of late in the sticky conditions, everything sticks to it turning it into a big heavy slick basically. Anyone have any suggestions for a new front that sheds well? Conditions on my local trails go from full on gloop to sand an everything between really.

Sorry...really know f^&% all about tyres! Noticed that the Hans Dampf at the front seemed to saved me the other day at Degla after a jump that went a bit wrong...see, f$%^ all! Good luck

Went from nobby nic to minion last year. I feel the nic is faster but the minion grips way better imo.

If it's for mud shedding and all round grip you need of look towards a maxxis shorty or in schwalbe a magic Mary.
Magic Marys not good on gravel hard pack as it seems to break away from the big gaps of middle ro side knows and worries you when it does.

Specialised storm control ...gets rave reviews for its mud shedding ability and great value at £30.00. That's not a recommendation though as I haven't tried it myself ... If you were talking of a rear mud shredder ..then I can recommend the Hutchinson Toro..in the skinny size...not had one for a couple of years but it was fantastic I've just kept a Maxxis combo on ... Minion front and Ardent rear with no real problems and don't expect to change that for the dry & dusty weather when it comes ...!

I`ve just put a shorty on the front of the dh bike and it performed really well on an uplift day at revs last weekend but tbh it wasn`t particularly muddy but I believe it`s grippy when things get sloppy.

My Magic Mary/Nobby Nic combo arrived today - can't wait to try em out, I'll be getting the wheels trued first as well - though it'll be an LBS job. Haven't got the kit or skillset to do it meself.

I've recently had a go, at a mates bike shop with the Wheel jig, it's actually quite easy... bit tedious though.

I've really liked my WTB Vigilante front and rear combo over the winter, heaps of grip on literally everything I've ridden. Front has never slipped once, not even on wet roots. I'll be keeping it on the front come proper summer and putting the Wolverine on the rear for some more slick fun in the rear

Chief has had 2 HD's since new (that's how I specced it, HD's front and rear) , proper heavy and draggy (but verrrry grippy) - so having the NN on the rear does actually make it less burly. Or maybe it balances out - who knows? just wanted to try the combo out after hearing great reports. Also, summer blast bike is the Zero - Chief is for Wales.

While I was at Evans yesterday I noticed a Norco with a Nobby Nic on the back and a Magic Mary on the front...the Magic Mary looks like a mighty grippy tyre!

It's given me more confidence though (the MM) got a long standing PB of mine (upper cliff) broken second ride out on it.

The MM looks like a proper beast of a tyre...i will certainly get it when the time comes to replace the front. Inspires a lot of confidence just by looking at it!?
