No just covering the field, I know Santa Cruz are great bikes but you do pay more for the name.
Was wondering if anyone has or had experience with the Commencal. Quite a nice looking bike and a lot of kit for the money they charge

I've heard good and bad things about them...but a friend of mine sold his SC Nomad (or Bronson, can't remember) for a Meta...and he loves the Meta!

One of my neighbours bought the top Capra model...I think it was 3-3.5K...it's a very capable bike with 180mm Fox 36 and a X2 at the back...in fact it is probably an overkill at all times. It climbs well surprisingly tho! Canyon of course is also a good option!

There is also Radon, and Rose bikes...to name a few. The YT Capra's are really nice...the only "problem" is that because they are so nice and such great value for money, you start to see a lot of them. And i guess now that Gwinny is racing for the team, it will be even "worse". Always heard great things about Canyon...but the only issue is making sure the size fits you. Good luck!

Think I am going to take the chances, tried a large Bronson and heckler and felt right I was right on border of med and large
I am 5-9 5-10

No doubt direct sales are a brilliant thing to save cash, i've done it myself plenty in the past, but after buying my current bike i'm so glad i demo'd it first, yes it did cost the full retail price but you know what, 0% interest paying it up ain't that bad really

Im 5.10 too, also between M and L and always took the risk...last 2 bikes were L...this one is M...MUCH prefer M now since my arms are not too long and i don't have great flexibility which makes a difference if you need to spend a few hours stretched forward further...if that makes sense to you...i would suggest trying to find one to test... Did you test the L size SC for a few hours or just around carpark? Did you test M as well?

Mbuk have reviewed the yt and have stated the medium is very small in build. My arm length matches my height and medium Bronson felt very cramped I will check out geometrys against the 2

I have a Meta V4 and think it's brilliant. Climbs well, descends even better, not too heavy but the standard Commencal wheels are cack. For the money I couldn't be happier. Heard a lot of bad things in terms of durability about the YT frames. Only thing I've HAD to change on the Meta in 12 months is wheels a few weeks ago (the free hub was giving up, bearings were shot and I smashed the rim on the edge of a wall trying to jump it) and the press fit BB. The only slight annoying thing I find is the rattle of the internally routed cables.

I had been looking at YT myself... Just don't feel I need 180mm travel. Was worried about how they would climb as well.. They seem more like mini downhill sleds now although the Pro Race one is 160 and good spec and genuinely quite reasonable
Not seen any YT's on here but theres a thread full of them on pink bike

Had a Commencal Meta AM v3, i didn't get on with it, the internal cable routing noise as barffy mentioned is annoying as f*ck, i also felt after a few months it didn't feel solid.. that's my experience anyway, everyone will tell you different, the price tag they have isn't bad at all, that, i will say as a positive.

still using my old 2009 Commencal meta55 uk ltd ed...... best bike I ever bought.... it's a bit like me now and falling apart.... But I would buy a commie again in a heartbeat.... Jase had the same model and he was livid when some dickwad nicked it outA his shed.... he also had a commie last year but sold it pretty quick (but that's Jase all over... buy a good bike and then sell it for a profit.....LOL)

I've bought direct (Rose Granite Chief) great bike and I don't regret it one bit - I've also bought 'British' and local - and tbh, just for the hassle (and potential hassle) of having to deal with people thousands of miles away if anything goes wrong versus people who speak the same language and are within driving distance.....I wouldn't buy direct again. Just summat else to think on. the Radon's, Roses, YT's are all excellent bikes, but there are just as good as these bikes that you can demo and be 100% sure that you are getting the right bike - no gamble on sizing or 'feel' as you have ridden it. Right here, in this country.
Mega's, Whytes, Spesh, On Ones, Auris, Orange etc etc etc.
I know what I'd do.

His has the Mavic wheels, the 180mm float 36 at the front and the X2 at the back! He told me he is thinking about reducing the fork to 160...I assume he looked into it and you can do it without ruining the geometry too much (obviously in the limit probably). Another guy once told me is Capra also surprised him when it came to how well it climbs. Just get a Kingdom Vendetta II 27.5+...lol

Not sure if I'm going to hang on for the 2017 bikes and pre order and get it this time next year or get this years right now. Need to sit down and have a look at money. Iv never owned anything Carbon Fibre and for some reason I'm quite nervous about it.
