Any recommendations for either??
I don't need an all singing all dancing truing stand, just something to get me started!
If anyone know's of any useful 'idiots guides' to wheel truing/building, I'd be grateful for the details..
Cheers and tha..

I've got my wheels off right now to be trued - was gonna go to Swinno's but not at all happy with the answer I got when I asked for truing and hub servicing costs - '40 quid an hour plus parts' I was told, so I said well it's just truing and a bit of grease in the hubs is all I want...'*sucks breath through teeth* weelll...depends what we find when we get in there, if the bearings are shot etc...'
Thanks but no thanks I said. Gonna phone Gnarly's in a mo and sound them out - if they are the same you might have a first customer Beans!

Once I've got all the bits I need, stand etc, and had a bit of practice, I'll gladly charge you £35 per hour

Gnarly's seem much better - 15 quid a wheel to true, 2 quid any new spokes and the hubs serviced for 15 quid a hub. Sound reasonable? tbf I'll probably have to do the hubs myself to keep cost down. Never done a hub before or even had one apart, sounds like fun! what's the worst that can happen? Soz Beans, I'll start a new thread, as you were.

That book looks good for £9. Last time I trued a wheel was about 20 years ago lol.

Truing is a doddle once youve done it a few times, the vidoes linked are good, also worth reading the park tools guide which is a good one too.

I get my Mrs. to take mine & matt`s wheels to the lbs owned by a couple of yoofs, she took one in last week and he only charged £2 for truing. I reckon they think she must be well gnarly taking wheels in with 2.5 super tacky tyres on
