Just put the Chief back together - new drive train. Brand new XT rotors - back one is ok but the front is juddering so badly it's flexing the Pikes. Only been up and down the road.
I'd cleaned em with rubbing alcohol (only drank a bit) and the pads I rubbed down with sandpaper. Now, the pads were already on the bike - could it be uneven wear on the pads due to the knackered old rotors? should I sand em down more or just bin em and put new in?
Anything else I could have missed that could be causing it?
Cheers.

Is the rotor running true?

Your old rotor will have worn in an hr glass sort of profile, so your pads will have a convex curved surface to them and will only really be contacting in the middle of the brake surface... right where all the holes are, hence judder.
If you do a bunch of stoppies itll probably sort its self out, but id just stick new ones in to encourage even wear from the start.

Did you install the rotors all with the same torque (assuming 6 bolt?!) and the right way, as in opposite bolts each way?

Gits, didn't torque the bolts but tightened them 'opposite bolt' wise. They are running dead straight. I'm guessing Timbo is right as the old rotors really were '8' shaped as he described, I'll bin the front pads in the morning and chuck some new in. Spookily enough though, Beans and Bob, I was wearing purple pants and I did check the tyre pressures 42 times, so you may be onto summat too.
