Think I will book my holidays through you Glynn if you can guarantee that sort of weather! Sounds like you had a great time ...and picked the right time of day/month/ year to ride Loughrigg Tce....which can be the most hostile place on earth for mountain bikers given that sort of weather on a weekend and in holiday season..as it is the most accessible place for walkers and young families visiting Ambleside. Normally best ridden before 10.00am or after 5.00pm..
There was a bit on our "local " TV news which covers the North East and Cumbria last week saying that visitor numbers were well down still after the winter flooding and all the "negative " press the area has had because of it ...how busy did you find it ?

bowness looked busy when we walked round there.our site seemed to be busy, and loughrigg was busy with walkers on the wednesday, but i dont know how busy it usually gets. glenridding was obviously still having plenty of work done, it looked like a building site next to the river with the machinery and rocks being put in place to repair and strengthen the flood defence

I love that area, I've rode Loughrigg a couple of times. That climb out of Ambleside is a killer!
