I bought a pair of shimano shoes and cheap shimano clipless pedals about 4 years ago and i have just starting using them on the scott carbon on just light XC and farm roads and i couldn't be more happier , so much power goes in the pedaling now and iv only had 2 overs after stopping to see what my strava was doing and fell to the side forgetting i was clipped in .. I've now done a 40 miler and 33 miler in a week using them and i want to try them on full susser soon as i get fitness back and i feel climbing on the trails will be a lot better and more confident tacking the techy up hills but not so on the techy singletrack
