Having woken up to an absolutely beautiful sunny morning and knowing that I would be close to one of my favorite rides while on a spot of business I checked the weather app to find that the forecast was favourable until this evening ...so a quick call to Graham to see if he was interested ( he was ) and arrangements were made to meet up early afternoon to do a Bolts Law there and back from Edmundbyers... I should say at this stage that my good lady who does a cracking homemade curry ..decided to have her first attempt at a Thai Green Curry last night and had been a little over zealous in terms of its strength..making things slightly windy shall we say ... The route we were taking is basically a climb up to the top of Bolts Law and a terrific blast back ...it wasn't too long into the ride that I began to feel uncomfortable ...by the 3/4 hour mark my discomfort was so intense that I knew I had to get off the hill pretty damn quick a decision easily made by the worsening weather..with big fat snowflakes and visibility getting gloomier by the minute I managed to find a public loo not a moment too soon at the Derwent Reservoir visitor centre ... We then went for a pint to celebrate our respective birthday's ..which spookily fall on the same day ( 26th) ... Short but sweet but still worth doing..and the right decision as although now back home there are still big fat juicy snowflakes falling ... A few pics Why thank you sir ....

Graham tackling a short but steep tug with very little in the way of traction due to the marble sized pebbles Must get back there soon !

ground conditions looking good there. i also went out for a quickie yesterday.set off from home in sun and blue sky. half an hour in, and the skies had darkened, then horizontal snow and freezing cold at the highest point. not dressed properly i was glad to get home, but i still enjoyed getting out.

I saw this on Grahams strava feed and wondered why he turned back. I was thinking boggy ground or bad weather but now I know the real reason. Do you not keep a little shovel and some bog roll in the camelbak?
