Here's the Skiddaw route... www.strava.com/activities/569487775You're right it's a hell of a climb if you go straight up to the car park.

That isn't the climb I'm on about...but yeah that's still tough! Get your map out.. We usually start at Threlkeld ..and go all the way to Skiddaw House where we turn right to go down to Mosedale . Turn left here and climb up to Calebreck and turn left onto the mining tracks which until a few years ago were permissive ...but are now b/way status ...follow this to Fellside. Turn left on to the road through Branthwaite and then turn left to Holborn ..a track then turns into a grassy bridleway to Longlands... Follow the road (Cumbria Way) past Orthwaite to just past Peter House Farm and turn left onto the B/ Way which follows the Dash Beck to the very impressive waterfall known as Whitewater Dash ...this is the climb I was meaning!! Beyond the waterfall all the way back to Skiddaw House and along the side of Lonscale Fell ( your Ridge video) down to the car park at Latrigg then Keswick and follow your route back to Threlkeld It's a fab day out!

So, explain to me please...at Whinlatter is there a south loop and a north loop? Which one is best and is it easy to understand? Thinking about paying a visit to it, since i travel every month past Keswick. Which routes would you recommend? does it have black sections or not? ta in advance

You could easily do the lot in an afternoon ...cos I've heard that you are very fit ( in a non gay way !) It's man made ...but a lot of it is using the natural rock of the mountainside ...2 big ups and two big downs plus a blue which is not to be sniffed at ..

I prefer the North loop as it's slightly more challenging, I've just added a video of the North descent with is great fun. No black runs, just blue and red. Cheers Lee

cos I've heard that you are very fit If only was your daughter saying that ... Maybe then what i could do is one loop on the way up, then the next day on the way back, stop there again and do the other loop. I could also do Whinlatter on the way up and then Gisburn the next day on the way down...then compare both! Exciting times
