Was just out for a pootle today and I just had a look at the bike and actually realised how much I love this bike. Not only for it's capabilities but I know I'm biased but I think it's one of the nicest looking bikes out there. I'm having a little trouble with my brakes but other than that this bike has been faultless.

Whats the prob with the brakes ? (if they're Guides, ditch the SRAM pads for a start .. they are sheeiit!)

Whats the prob with the brakes ? (if they're Guides, ditch the SRAM pads for a start .. they are sheeiit!) They are guides, I might try change pads. Basically they don't feel strong enough to stop all the time. Took them to bike shop for a bleed and they said they were fine when they checked them. What pads are recommended ?

I used these .. www.chainreactioncycles.com/nukeproof-avid-x0-trail-guide-disc-brake-pads/rp-prod129759 .. (sintered) ... along with a 203mm front rotor, tho the bigger rotor was just the way I like the stoppers, the 180 was great with the NP pads also
They made a world of difference, and depending on whether you have the Guide R, RS, or RSC .. (I think the RSC has reach and bite point adjust) these pads are a fraction thicker, so you can back the reach adjuster off a bit if you like a solid feeling bite on the disc
My Mega is a bit of a lump, and these brakes are now easily capable of hauling it and me to a stop on a sixpence, but with a very light feel and free stroke, unlike my XT's on tother bike ..

Thanks for sharing that. Really looks like such a professional operation. I know a lot of people have had issues with the Customer Service side so I hope they can sort that out as well. Extremely happy with my bike. Hope they continue to offer good value going forward.

Going to order a set. I have the ultimates and honestly been a bit disappointed with them compared to my Avid Trail 9s on my old bike. If I still had it I would have swapped them over. Those brakes never missed a beat.

Long shot this I know, but any chance you have somehow contaminated the rotors/pads ? .. a little overspray of the GT85, or chain cleaner, any aerosol in fact .. just a thought, its easy done
I have a little trick that works a treat if you have .. might be worth a go before shelling out again! tho saying that, I don't think I'd choose any other make of brake pad now TBH .. even if they are contaminated and could be cleaned successfully

Those brakes never missed a beat. im going to try ubber bike sintered pads as ive got the same brakes on my YT capra pro race and they are shit for stopping at speed , they just dont seem to not bite and stopping distance is awful . a few times i didnt think i was going to be able to stop and it was wet too . I have XTR and XT on my other bikes and they stop way better than the GUs . i thought about selling them and getting the hope tech3 e4s in red . www.rushcycles.co.uk/m63b0s604p5283/HOPE-Tech3-E4-Braided-Hose-brakes-Front-and-Rear-Red

End of the day, you could use Saint DH 4pots .. but if the pads are shite (which IMO SRAM are) that powerful master/caliper don't count for much
The Guide RS on my Mega are simply awesome (but not wooden feeling if ya know what I mean)

What's that Ergon saddle like? i admire their ethos of making everything as ergonomic as possible and it really does sound like they make good comfortable products!?
