Right, my Scott currently has a Fox 36 fork on it however I am not overly happy with it, it's small bump compliance is crap, the problem with the fork is it's the remote version so there is no way of changing the low speed compression settings and Scott have tuned the fork to be fairly stiff unless you are absolutely nailing it. Because of this I always seem to get sore wrists and hands.
my options are as follows.
1. Change the cartridge in the 36 for a new 2016 version without the remote 2. Change the cartridge and buy the Avalanche one again removing the remote 3. Buy a new Lyric 170 again no remote.
i don't really care for the remote on the fork, I'd rather have more control of what it's doing.
so has anyone got any opinions of the above options?

Sorry Euan - never had a remote for the forks on any of my bikes - just can't see the point - extra bar clutter for what gain? that's without the fact it's lessened your adjustment options.
Sorry I can't be of more help!

Remotes only work on XC bikes imo!
Ran one on my spesh for a bit... Just another cable to add to the clutter. Its not exactly hard to take your hand off the bars and lock out the fork manually... Plus, if youre loosing out on fork adjustments then i definitely wouldn't be worried about loosing it!
I've seen some good things regarding the Avalanche cartridge

The Lyrik looks good. I hear good things about it. Probably the only upgrade I need to do when the strive gets here.

If you can send them to Mojo or TFT to get the new FIT4 cartridge, that's the best solution to me! And I bet you won't regret it...specially on small bump compliance! With the volume spacers, you can tinker forever!

Id try the lyriks... selfishly for a review for my new build... im not a fan of remotes so i feel your pain too... a cheaper logical answer would be to fit a new cartridge... and see how you get on.

Yes, but it would always be his review...and when you fork out hundreds of pounds on a fork, usually it is great! Is t the Lyric a bit overkill? I know a racer with Kingdom who has one and he loves it, if that helps! However, you just have to read the reviews on the new FIT 4 cartridge on both the 36's and 34's to see how good they are! Sometime ago, Mojo were doing a great promotion on a service with the replacement for 240 quid if I remember correctly!

I'm going to be completely honest! I've only had Fox, just because in the old days, everyone use to say they were the best...and...cough cough....they just look better! Lol...but then the Pike's came along...with their great RS service requirements and customer service! However, I had an issue on some 32 CTD Evo's that came on a Scale I had, and Mojo replaced the whole thing under warranty very quickly!

I'd love to have some BOS forks like Jay... But I fear I'd not see the benefit... I'm not the gnarliest rider... Just like a bit of a thrash on a trail... I have the latest pikes and the 2015/16 dual position very happy with both.. And the Blutos on the Tusker... Also very happy with them...

Does your remote do anything to the fork? The GF's genius doesn't do anything, it just seems to work the shock. I think all 3 of your options sound good. How much will the lyric change the geo though? The only thing that I notice it doing is that on the 3rd click it ramps up the compression so as it makes it easier to pedal on the road, other than that it's pretty much redundant as I generally have it in the 2nd position with limits the rear shock to 125mm. It shouldnt change the geo too much as they are both 170mm forks, I will need to check the axle to crown distances on the two of them to compare

Same here Adam, very happy with the Pikes and the dual position is a Godsend on long climbs. Fox is prettier, but the extra shekels involved doesn't make pretty worthwhile to me.

Duel position forks are not for me, had them on other forks and hated them, so much so I sent them off to mojo to have it removed and replaced with a solo air cartridge

I like my dual position pikes, they're a little less active and sit higher than the normal ones on my hardtail... probably not something many other people would appreciate mind.
Also the dual position thing drops them by about 15-20mm, ie not enough to be noticable.
