Well I was one of the doubters who questioned his motives ( asking for up front funding ) . I think it was post Gunner mtbe days when anyone asking for money was viewed with suspicion ! Lol. I'm really happy to eat a large slice of humble pie ...and take my hat off to the bloke for battling on and seeing his dream come true. Well done ...and every success for the future ...

The reason he started crowd funding was because the local councils, government etc all turned their noses up at him when he asked for funding.
The majority of the place has been built with his own money. It obviously remains to be seen as to if he can make it work as a business or not.
Nobody can doubt his determination and sheer will to get the place up and running. It's just a massive shame he had to do it alone.
Hopefully, he'll make a commercial success of it and sponsorship from magazines etc will start rolling in to help develop the place further.
I've no doubt at that point, local councils etc will make a bit of a U turn and offer help..

Also got a slot for one of the PMBA enduro events. That's a good move funding and marketing wise.

Not for me I don't think, I prefer a ride with ups and downs, so much stuff to do in and around there that better warrants the drive up,

Good luck to him. Glad he is up and running. I can't help looking at the map and thinking the runs look very short but if it's good enough for an enduro event I must be wrong. Hope he does well.

As much as i enjoy a good challenge and an all-day around some natural stuff, sometimes, its good to just have a break and do some trail centre riding...i mean, Degla (and I'm sorry i keep going on about it) is a great place, you have a lot of fun and there is no doubt you improve on other type of skills... ...however, you do Gisburn all the time anyway...i forgot...i need to also try that one which was voted "best in the UK"

Apparently, that map is about 15 months out of date. There is a new one which isn't published as yet! I can't imagine the runs have gotten any longer but maybe the new map will shed a touch of light on the length of each run..

Somewhere to go when the weathers grim or I'm the case of Gisburn (only been once or twice this year btw) I know I will be down and dusted for a certain time and able to pick the kids up rather than exploring some new route further a field. My original point in reference to gnar is that after driving 3 or 4 hours I want the ride to be at least of that duration and I don't think there's 3 or 4 hours of variety amongst their runs just yet. I'd rather ride an xc loop with some good descents than 10 runs of the same two or three descents with a lift or push to the top. I think BPW and stiniog may be more worthwhile as the runs are longer and there's a lot of variation in linking up the different sections. Not that I would drive hours to those either whilst there so many other places I haven't been to yet. but would certainly consider a visit if staying nearby.

Good on him for doing it though. It would be great to have such an idea and see it through. When I was at college and playing a bit of golf I thought of developing some of my father's land into a driving range. It would have been the only one around for miles within an area that had lots of golf courses therefore a potential customer Base. He was still very active in the building trade at the time so it may have been doable but I fell at the first hurdle. No funds and crowd funding etc didn't exist then.

Respect to him... "If you build it, they will come!".... Not sure it's for riders like me... But it will certainly be awesome for some!

Genuinely didn't think it would happen cause I remember his crowdfunding not starting very well so didn't think it would get there.

If you do Doogs - rate it for us!
I'm by no means a DH rider, but I love the Blues and reds at BPW - and as long as it's got similar stuff to that, I'd give it a goo!

I think some of you are missing the reason why he has built this. Its not about munching mile upon mile, it's about improving your skills so when you do munch the miles you have the skills and confidence to hit whatever comes at you. I was excited from the start and as he said when he announced it some people said why and others said why not. surround yourself with why not's.
