Despite what a lot of people think the Carerra frames are pretty good. Not sure if it's still the case but they used to be built by Merida.

how did you market and describe the old bag of shite. gotta ask lol. did you sugest it was a dh bike or just bike for sale, may kill you but dont worry about that lol. the new carrera is a nice starter decent bike. some good riders on here started on a carrera right getonyourbike.
