The way I see it...keep the bike inside the house and then it's cover by contents without limit...anything outside is usually limited to 1K..plus it's a much bigger crime to rob your house rather than a shed or garage...plus better locks , alarms, etc!

i have just renewed my 3rd year with AA contents insurance . they sent me a auto re new of £18.65 a month for £60k house contents and thought it was high considering i was only paying £14 a month for last 2 years. decared the 2 bikes i had on it with the retail worths of £2900 for the scott , and £3800 with upgrades on the cube . did another quote online and with there plus insurance with unlimited house contents and each item valuing at 5k and under each , added the new bike too (still had to declare bikes even though they are covered automatically for 5k each on there plus insurance) also includes legal fees . came in at £11.90 a month but when i phoned they said it was a massive system mistake as when he did it it was coming up at £239 and interest on top a ,an extra £113 a month on what i was quoted . he spoke with manager and they honored the quote but it will be a separate policy once this one i have finished end of june , even when adding my new capra at a value of £3800 foee the next month on the existing policy there was no charge as they dont charge foe the last month with changes which was a bonus .
so now all my bikes are covered away from the home and European cover for total loss as long as its locked up to a static object that cant be moved . it didnt even matter that my bikes were in an Asgard security shed either . as its wouldn't of made a difference to the price . but saying all this my quote what he did over the phone was £239 with interest on monthly payments but honored the quote i got . i do live in a very low risk area as i can leave my back door open and still go on holiday lol ..its like the old days when you could really leave your doors open . as i was having convo with him he did say the highest insurance place is Manchester and just contents insurance could cost over £900-£1200 with normal £50k insurance and there plus insurance .
so i got a good deal for £126 with interest added at £11.90 a month with just over £12 deposit paid . all my bikes worth £10.500 and then im also covered for £7500 for shed items . other bikes worth £1500 or less are auto covered so road bike and missis bike covered without being declared .
Broker AA , insurer is AXA .

Bikmo. Garage. £55p/m. 2x Bikes £5k each. Home & Away everything covered you could possibly imagine. Inc 10% free kit cover. Thats expensive . just get an Asgard way cheaper and anchor it and anchor the bikes inside .

Another one for contents insurance here. Our bikes are covered in garage as long as it's secured with a gold standard lock ( I have 2 of those chained to ground anchors and a third 22m chain made from an old boat anchor..) also have a high tensile steel cable through the wheels and have a plug in baby monitor which gets turned on at night.I think the garage contents are covered up to 5k max and that's it. Bob I'd recommend spending a couple of hundred quid on security alongside your insurance as its all well and good getting the bike replaced but do you really want to let some scrote have the chance of getting away with your baby and the hassle of replacing something you've worked hard for?

Thats expensive . just get an Asgard way cheaper and anchor it and anchor the bikes inside . Upstairs flat, not drive/garden nothing. Just an old coal bunker. This was by far the cheapest option. I see now yea .
