While i am off the bike for the next 2 months (broken collar bone) Going to strip the Five and get it resprayed.
I was thinking of changing from 1x10 to 1x11,
my question is, what is the difference between 10 and 11 speed mechs as i have a new rear 10 speed mech on the bike. surely it would be the shifter that denotes where the mech goes.

That I don't know - have you considered the Sunrace route? Myself and loads others have gone down that route and it's great - you don't need to change anything then - just pop on your new cassette and hey presto - 11-42 and no ugly and crap shifting pussy cog.
Why spend hundreds when you can spend 60?

Perry is bang on... Why bother with 11 speed, when you can have the same range with a 10 speed.. For a 3rd of the cost...

What Jack says - along with a wobbly ring up front (21 quid from Works components) - the MX-3 deffo. It's lighter than the 8 but basically has red and black colourway and looks prettier Running mine on a standard XT medium clutched rear mech and it shifts lovely - dead smooth. Got mine here but you might find em a couple of quid cheaper on fleabay? but I like Charlie. Charlie
