after one tubeless ride iv found a very small sidewall tear on the front tyre. the liquid has sealed the hole for now but it seems to open up again when i pump the tyre back up to 30psi. so im looking at repairing it. this is the method im going to try, does anyone have any better suggestions. 1. completely dry and clean the inside of the tyre where the hole is, also using a hairdrier to help dry it and soften the tyre. 2.use a glued type innertube patch on the inside of the tyre 3. use a hairdrier again to help dry off the glued patch

I usually apply the method of, throw tyre and replace with a new one. Did you have a reinforced sidewall, always say you need an exo or snakeskin equivalent.

eh? that means spending more money! according to the bumf its supposed to be sidewall reinforced the other alternative is to put in a tube for now as the tread is still good

F^&*&^ing hell...you are not having much luck with this tubeless, are ya? Never had such problem. The Hans Dampf should be Snakeskin. I would not risk it running tubeless again...just imagine you get a sudden deflation going down a techy fast section...?! Scary that can be?!

it is testing my tubeless dedication! its not the hans dampf tyre its the geax goma which iv had since i built up the mega, its still got plenty of life in the tread and i like the tyre. i wouldnt ride this tyre again as it is ,thats why im thinking a patch would see it through.

I've just replaced a rear that was worse for wear with a Michelin grip r that somebody recommended, went up super easy, looks like an interesting tread pattern, hopefully grippy and rolls well.
The stands was totally dried up in the one I've replaced, going to have to change or top up the front now as well as I'm sure it's going to be dry as well. Lucky I haven't punctured.

How did the dry stand help the tire burp off, I've not heard of that before?

I don`t see how dried up stans fluid can be blamed for the tyre coming off the rim,the only thing that the fluid does is (hopefully) seal the tyre in the event of a puncture.

cheers timbo i'll get one of them for six quid, altho i dont think it would repair mine as its more of a tear than a clean hole. a tube patch wouldnt stick properly so iv put in a tube again till i get round to a new tyre.

I reckon you'll be converts, they'll do some impressively large and odd shaped holes, permanent too so they're good as new from my experience.
I don't think they come with instructions...
Find your hole, stab the file through it, the whole process is easiest if you still have some air in. You shouldn't loose much air doing this.
Put a bit of inner tube glue on the file and repeat.
Take the other forked tool and a stick of the horrible liquorice boot lace, pinch the end of the boot lace flat (pro tip, this helps a lot) and thread it until the tool is in the middle.
Spread a little glue around on the liquorice boot strap.
Stab the tool and boot strap through about an inch or so deep. This can take a good hard push, if the tyres flat you'll want to pull it out away from the rim.
Pull the tool out carefully, the boot lace stays in place.
Trim off the excess flush with the tread, I smear a little extra glue on the outside, it'll be dry enough to ride by the time you've pumped it back up and packed up your stuff.
Jobs a good un, you can get boot laces in bulk off eBay and the glue is just your bog standard tube glue.
