As my thoughts are turning towards my own new bike day ...I have started looking towards things like sag settings for the fork & shock ( downloaded the manuals ) . While I have always taken into account my Camelbak when setting my old suspension I have never actually weighed it and was shocked to discover how much weight I was lugging around with the bladder 2/3rds full (2litres) 19lbs...!! What does yours weigh fully loaded with water & gear for a full day ride?

I pretty much only do 6-10 mile loops in Nevis Range so I have stopped carrying a pack since I got my new bike and it is a massive difference!

Don't know what mine weighs but sounds like we're all carrying equivalent of a bike on our backs when riding

It'd be interesting to know how much 3 litres of water weighs About 3kg. 1000 ltrs is equivalent to 1m3 and 1000kg or 1 metric ton. Think about that next time you fill your bath or look at your cold/hot water tanks in the loft

Bloody hell, i will have to go weigh my pack, i dont carry that much, usually 2 litres of water, a first aid kit, tube, shock and tyre pumps and a couple of other tools!
It certainly makes a difference though when youre riding without one... I went out yesterday on the dh trails, without my pack, riding in jeans and a shirt, and it was so much better, have so much more freedom
For an all-day'er, you definitely need the pack but for quick blasts, im taking mine out less and less

I'll check mine when I'm home
Loaded up with a full day out ( minus the food because cba to make sarnies for a weigh in haha)
And for a trip out where I need water and basic bits
If I can get away with it I bring my little bag which had 1.5 Ltd of water and enough room for 1 maybe 2 gels and my phone at a push, great for local runs where if I get a puncture I'd just walk home

I will have to check mine, I've started using a 750ml bottle for my water as I am only out for 1-2 hours. I've been thinking of reducing the weight or losing the back pack but don't want anything attached to the frame either. I might invest in a smaller pack for shorter rides. Anyone seen the camelbak bum bag type thing? Trouble is I think I would look a twat with one of those on When I first got my bag I used to stick a couple of quid and twenty pence in for emergency / pint each ride. Last summer I took £23 odd out the bottom in loose change. It felt a lot lighter after that
