I have my nice shiny new pedals for my Mega build. These have 2 sets of pins - long & short. Non fitted at the moment, do I just decide either long or short (depending on how deep I want them to imbed in my shins....) and just whack em' in or is there a bit more science involved?
Have done a bit of google-ing but not coming up with anything helpful - other than the 'depends on how deep you want them to imbed in your shins'.
TIA

when i bought my nanos it wasnt very long before i replaced the pins for longer ones.mine didnt come with 2 sets to choose from. the longer pins made a big difference to the grip of the pedals.i'd say fit the longer ones

The pack included with the pedals has 8mm and 10mm pins.
Is it worth using thread lock on the pins?

yes i replaced the original ones with 10mm. iv not found any reason to use threadlock, mine are cap allen set screws so they tighten down to the underneath of the head

Long ones hurt more but extra grip is nice
Lower ones in certain places if you like to reposition the rear of your foot etc easier

Put long and short pins in to compare - feck me the long ones are huge! My shins have decided I should put the short ones in; which are still longer than those on my current pedals.

Yes, I would too, as another consideration is the longer ones will mangle up your 5/10's even faster than your shins.

the thing i noticed about the nanos is that the centre part of the platform where the spindle goes through is raised above the rest of the platform.if your pins are too short your foot might slide about on that part of the platform.

Never mind the pins ...is that a jar of sweeties in the background ? I'm really craving something sweet but have been a good lad as I'm on docs orders to get my blood sugar down ..that's just torture!

No, not sweets - it's a big jar of art and craft stuff. Mrs & kids love making stuff - like the rather fetching lollipop stick picture frame just to the left.
She was getting our youngest to make samples for when her art/craft shop opens for the kid's make and take sessions she'll be running.

Ahh...I feel better now then.. A gob full of felt bits doesn't have quite the same appeal!
